the wheels are hideous.
-
I'm really not comfortable driving SUV and people carrier type things, that's me, BUT..
have a decent test drive and spend some time in it ,though i note on another thread you had a Zafira
the out in-laws have a Fraud Kuga and love it , no accounting for taste ;D

I think this and a zafira b would be chalk and cheese.

Christ Steve that's a proper miserable looking thing
-
Well I quite like that but at the rough side of 14k could never see me spending that on any "means of transport" but thats just my :)
Agree with NickW though wheels are abit chav ;D

I completely agree. :y
NEXT. ;D

I quite like the look of it, but each to their own :-\
Quite a hefty chunk off new and it's pretty well specced (for something to throw the dog in ;D).
I wasn't expecting a ringing endorsement, just wondered if anyone had heard anything good/bad. I suppose it can't be that much different to wifey's astra k, that's diesel/auto with the 1.6 engine.
They are quite big in the flesh and I could do with something a bit higher off the ground for my old body.
-
I may be wrong but I believe Ms Zoom's daughter has one. She may have an opinion on it if she sees this thread.
-
The pics are quite poor quality. The one of the load space looks like the entrance to the black hole of Calcutta. Or should that be Kolkata. :-\ :D As for the car, they all look the same now, just change the badge. :)

You're right, Ronny, only subtle differences. I like the price, seems very reasonable for the age/mileage.
-
Ugly as f*uck.
Expensive.
Offensive colour
Runs on derv.
Some people never learn. :)
-
The whippet will never forgive you.
-
As someone said previously they all look alike now, very similar in looks to Hyundai in my opinion & certainly those wheels would be a bugger to keep clean, overall a modern vehicle for a reasonable price.

Save a couple of grand on one that's 3 grand more expensive.

Won't bending down to set up the ramps so the dog can get in ,or picking the dog up ,defeat any benefit of it being higher for your old bones to get in :-\

No, too many miles. I asked for an opinion on a car that I found, not on others dotted around the country.

God you're a prick.

I like it and it'll suit you down to the ground Uncle STEMO. :y
If you'd asked about alternatives I might have suggested a VW Toerag or a Hyundai Santa Fe, but you didn't! :)
-
Father had one for a month, and liked it, easy to get in and out, lots of toys. Definitely easy to get in, for the older less agile person

I like both of those but much more expensive, esp the VW.

Let us face facts. Whatever assistance we offer the old boy he will still end up with something terminally dull running on derv. :)

Uncle Stemo doesn't need a big flash car to charm the pants off the ladies :)
and he's a poor pensioner ,so tractor juice saves the pennies ;)

You can buy a decent car for what Opti pays in tax on the jag and the ancient Vauxhall.
-
100% french including the drivetrain, might even be thrown together by the British hating cheese eating surrender monkeys, certainly not comparable to the 1.6 CDTi you currently know :y

According to my DD both the Tata and mighty Signum cost £50.78 each month to tax. :'(
Spare us a copper guvnor..... :'(

Right.....that is all sorted then. Mark says it is utter crap, and he knows far more about cars than an elderly scouser of ill repute. :)

From Auto Express:
Those not put off by recent scaremongering will be well-served by the diesel, however. The 118bhp unit is one of the more refined offerings in this sector, staying subdued unless revved hard and producing a broad spread of power to ensure that you don’t need to do so. It’s flexible and happy to be driven about at very low revs, while a claimed combined economy figure of over 70mpg isn’t to be sniffed at :P
Mark is right (of course) that it's a completely different unit to the one I have (165bhp), and I'll probably miss the extra horses. But it's a bus, so I wouldn't expect to be racing around in it.
-
47bhp might not sound alot, but you will definitely feel it in the hills and with a load, especially if you get the 4x4 Grandland X.

But it's not a 4x4, is it? ::)

It doesn't say it isn't a Ferrari either, but I'm assuming it isn't ::)

Thinking of spending £13000 (?) because your a bit bored with your car. ::)
Go down Halfords and buy some go faster stripes, seat covers and various other tat and send the rest of the dosh to me. I will make good use of it. Promise. :y :)

We could make it an OOF project and each send some piece of stuff to 'upgrade' his Astra. I'm sure many of us have plenty of junk left over from previous projects. I'll happily chip in 1/4litre of Ford Thistle purple paint which should look interesting with the dull green of the car :y
-
A Honda CRV and Hyundai Santa Fe have popped up as alternatives ...
My wife has a 65 plate Honda CRV Ex 1.6 160 diesel auto - totally reliable, good performance, well kitted out, with plenty of toys and comfort.
I also have a 65 plate Hyundai Santa Fe Premium SE 2.2 diesel auto, which again is unbelievably reliable, very comfortable with even more toys, and is excellent at towing with plenty of torque and power.
Both within your price range (if comparing with that Grandland X).
Although I like the TV advert for the Grandland X, it wouldn't convince me to buy one.....
-
Right, I've listened to what you all had to say, deleted the opinions that don't agree with mine and will make a decision over the weekend ;D
-
I bet he buys a baby killing derv. :)

I'm sure he's got a few spare "magic trees" in his garage - just in case he gets a fussy MOT tester... ;D
-
I took my car for a long drive to try and pick faults to justify chopping it in. Engine, fine. Gearbox, fine. Steering, suspension, fine, fine. Usability, more than fine. MPG, around 45. Do I actually like it? Yes.
Bollõcks.......it's got to stay ;D
Where do I buy the cream, Mark?
-
While we're at it, wifey's idea of an A class this year. Her astra....unmarked (like new), 34,000 miles, FVSH, 12 months MOT, still paying service plan for another 12 months, also 12 month complete warranty from Vauxhall for £278 lasts till December 2021.
Hers is staying for another year, too.
