If you have wood, it is good to give it a polish.

We had our team Christmas meal and piss up the other afternoon. Virtual of course. Not sure it worked really, esp as my crappy Teams kills the laptop as soon as I allow incoming video.
However, a couple of hours in, and one of the young'uns was absolutely phished, and many home truths came out. That livened it up a bit ;D

She's doing it again ::)
Senior leadership team this time, so I don't know whether to expect a quieter affair or a riot :-\

You'll need to buy something long and hard or they'll think you are a party pooper. :)

Probably more like a Tupperware party! ;D

It's much quieter than last time, but that could change. She's probably only halfway down her bottle yet. The CEO of the trust had his wife personally deliver bottles of posh plonk to all 14 schools to be consumed this evening. We, of course, googled said plonk and it was about £16 a pop.

I'm watching the football on prime video. Liverpool's 90th minute winner last night gave me a semi :)
Jaime will be watching too, as he would like to ram Jack Grealish ;D

Austerity? What austerity ;D

I think a £16 bottle of plonk is cheap considering them having to put up with hundreds of brats every day :P

But as trusts, they're businesses. With office staff, managers, CEOs and all the support that used to be done by the education authority. So there's money to burn unless you actually want to spend it on education. Plus, as separate entities, they don't bugger up the statistics.

Another, clueless, intervention. I don't even get riled at them any more, I just pity the ignorance.

No, Ron, all paid out of the millionaire CEO's pocket. The millionaire CEO who was brought up in care, then did well, very well, in the business world and decided to give something back by bringing his business knowledge to a CofE academy trust for virtually no wage.
But, hey, Nick knows more about things like this than me.

Yes Steve, education finance has changed a hell of a lot since my days at school. Left in 1959.
