.......and I've always considered myself to be pretty well informed on Tudor history. I apologise unreservedly for my ignorance.

Should there be a link or something there?

A link to what?
I made an error and I apologise.

No need to apolgise Opti . . . . I remember being told she never ever washed herself and worked in a coal yard :o
Not sure where you are going with this though :-\ :-\

I'm disappointed I didn't know that this iconic English Queen was black. Strewth. :-\
-
Actually......I think using a black actor shows diversity and I don't find it a problem in itself.
Left field thinking has much to commend it. I suggest we experiment with a black Maggie Thatcher and a black Winston Churchill. That should tick some boxes. :y
-
How about a black Bernard Manning ?
-
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/History_of_African_presence_in_London
I do believe that Channel 5 is mistaken... She was beheaded sixty years before the first official negro in Lundun...
I think that they may have previously mentioned it if the Queen was, er, not local... ::)
-
How about a black Bernard Manning ?
....... or a black Enoch Powell giving his famous 'Rivers of blood ' speech in 1968, for which Ted Heath sacked him. ::)
-
Seriously though......if a woman as iconic as Anne Boleyn can be portrayed as black then I'm sure black people will have no problem with a white 'Ali' or a white Martin Luther King ......or a white Obama ( who is in reality half white)
It's great news all round. :y

It will be a one way street, Al. :-\
Box ticking by guilty white liberals who need to atone and apologise for the evil white race.
-
It's actually a good thing. When things become so ridiculous people usually turn away from them.

The words of wisdom thank god for that.

I think that the soon to be released'Black Churchill' will finally see the whole thing off. ;D

That was the first time I wrote to a PM to object. >:(

Object to the speech or object to Enoch getting sacked by Heath?

Wasn't the next Bond after Daniel Craig rumoured to be a non male, non IC1 person?

Yep a woman. Most likely with dark skin to tick another box. Can't be called James though. :-\

Liz Truss seems to be adopting a more sensible approach, the wokes don't like it:
Equality debate can't be led by fashion, says minister Liz Truss https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-55346920

I see the Labour party don't agree with her views. Their priority was to look after the working classes back in the day.
Today they are obsessed with race, and minorities such as trans and gays. They have failed to see the elephant in the room which is why many of the poorest towns in the North voted for Boris.

I'm very disappointed in you, Opti, no mention at all of her tits ::)

they tried replacing Dr Who with a woman ::)
now Dr Who can't be shown on Christmas day because she has to stop home and cook the turkey ;D

That would not be a politically correct thing to say. Anyway......she is a 10 pinter at best. Heidi Allen on the other hand... :-* :-* :-* :-* :-* :-*

I hear the ratings have tanked. Go woke...Go broke....is that what they say? :-X

Can you imagine what the British army will look like in 20 years? ;D
The Russians will die laughing and, thus, be defeated.

I suppose she could still be called James as a black gay trans woman who self-identifies as a man. :)
That ticks a lot of boxes. :y

Black female lesbian Islamic person who considers themselves a toaster, should result in enough grants to pay for the full film budget ;D

Apparently Lawrence Fox has put his tongue firmly in his cheek and complained that this woman getting the role is discriminatory on grounds of limbism.
Ann Boleyn had six fingers on one hand, and this woman clearly has only five. Brilliant. ;D

If you're into your Tudor films, how can you take something like this seriously?

Would this prove better or worse for teasing the Tudor todger? :)

I think that the soon to be released'Black Churchill' will finally see the whole thing off. ;D
With a name like Winston good old Winnie is begging for the black makeover treatment. Expect 'Black Churchill' the movie early 2021. ::)

Given Henry XIII moved heaven and earth to marry the woman, including the first Brexit, it must have been better! :y
Although ultimately it proved worse for Anne Boleyn. ::)

He slipped her sister a length first. :)
As for the extra finger.......she had one less head than most people, so it it all balances out in the end. ::) ::) ;D

She was probably always destined for a sticky end, as if she'd have been a commoner with six digits, she'd have been burnt at the stake as a witch! :(

Which, no pun intended, was one of the items on her list of wrongness, although apparently no proof was offered...
I am Henry the Eighth I am :D
-
lesbian
OK, I'll agree to anything. Where do I watch?

Anyhoo, surely this is cultural (mis) appropriation. The same thing they moan about when a white person plays a part that could / should have been played by a non white person ?
-
Not to mention a complete affront to historical fact...
Spinning historical events one way or tother is a fine line, but rewriting them is across that line... Unless of course it is being billed as some sort of comedic parody... Which, apparently, this isn't :-X

Hollywood,s been doing that for years. ;)

I guess, but there's artistic licence and there's total fabrication...

Next time they do a film about Rosa Parks they should use a white actress to portray her. See how they get on! ;D

It will be a one way street. The other way is racist.
Only white people can be racist, according to black people. :)
