Title: Removed hedgehog and I have spare wires, need advice
Post by: clyle2000 on 01 February 2021, 11:23:19
Hello folks, thanks for the help on here to trouble shoot my cabin blower which works hooked up to direct 12v but in removing the hedgehog I may have ripped out 2 wires and I have no idea where they should go.

1 - a brown wire I have no idea where it goes.. i feel it may be block 5 with the blue and white wire.
2 -the block that came from the hedgehog
3 - a red wire I have no idea where it goes.. i feel it may be block 5 with the blue and white wire.
4 - Not sure what the block 4 wires are
5 - Not sure what the block 5 wires are for
6 - a hose that looks like it was connected to something.
Any help in this would be appreciated as I feel my brute force approach has now caused me more problems.

The hose is a vacuum line to the heater box.

Re the wires, if you have a Haynes manual, that will help for the wiring diagrams.

The hedgehog is the same across the range ;)

Just looking at the manual now and trying to learn how to read wiring schematics as I go. I cant find any Haynes manuals for the facelift model just the pre facelift.

Does anyone know what the ''hedgehog" is called officially? Is it the K7 relay air conditioner blower?

That's the only manual, and for the purposes of this exercise is fine. The colours might vary slightly, but the pinouts on the hedgehog will be the same. Ideally you're looking at the 'later models' ECC circuits :y

Should be a resistor rather than a relay :-\

Thanks folks, due to my lack of knowledge in electrics I have left well alone just now.

So far the glove box, vents, airbag and a load of screws and bolts are in the boot.
