I would like to print from my M1 Apple MacBook running Big Sur, using my HP 1512 printer connected to my Windows 10 PC with both computers on the same network. Google suggests that I can do this, but I have been unable to do so due to my technical incompetence.
I can see the printer in the laptop preferences, but it says "Not responding" when I try to print.
Can anyone explain in simple terms what I need to do to fix this?
I am unwilling to plug the printer into the laptop due to the physical constraints of where it is used.

Have you 'shared' your printer in Windows 10?
Goto;
Printers & Scanners > Click the Printer you wish to Share > Click 'Manage' > Click 'Printer Properties' > Click the 'Sharing' Tab > Check the 'Share This Printer' box > Click OK.
Ensure you have the correct driver for Big Sur installed.

I use the HP Smart App from my phone or wieless printing from my laptop. Does such an app exist for Apples? :-\

The HP 1512 doesn't have WiFi capabilities unfortunately.
I think Shackeng is having issues with Windows 10 blocking access. I suspect it would be the same issue if using another Windows 10 machine in lieu of the Mac. :-\

Do take advantage of mine being wireless.
Work on the phone, save it in Onedrive and print away with abandon :D

If you have the Driver installed on Big Sur, you are good to go.
I think the issue you are having, is Windows 10 is pretty secure.... it's not allowing your Mac access.
If I were in the same position, I'd be buying a USB Printer WiFi Dongle. Something like This! (https://www.tp-link.com/uk/home-networking/computer-accessory/tl-wps510u/)
In fact.... I've probably got one kicking around in my massive box of useless shit that I'll never need again.

In the wake of the murder of this poor woman in south London, there was a gobby mare on the news this aft who sounded just like a BLM or LBGT prophet. Apparently, we are all unconsciously biased against women, and treat them like sex objects or second class citizens. There was no way this particular gobshite was ever gonna be treated as a sex object, but she definitely fitted into the second class citizen category.
