Title: Good old Egay sellers/Amazon
Post by: Doctor Gollum on 12 March 2021, 02:47:24
Apparently Amazon aren't making enough money so they have started competing with actual delivery companies and are shipping ebay orders ::)

Ordered a couple of tools from a business seller on ebay and was surprised to see Amazon as the shipper. Suffice to say they failed to deliver the item two days running, yesterday at 1506 and today at 2247 ;D (I was in both times, so that's clearly BS), and decided that the items are now undeliverable. WTF ??? Even Hermes and Don't Handle Logistics can deliver within two attempts.

Not sure if the issue is with the seller using Amazon to fulfil the order to save a couple of quid, or if Amazon are as incompetent as Yodel :-\ it's 50/50... (And/or the driver can't read addresses) but suffice to say that if you leave the depot at 1215 with a couple of hundred drops, you probably aren't going to finish before the 2200 cut off :-X

No, I had this a couple of years ago, ordered with eBay, delivered in Amazon box.

Apparently the sellers have accounts on both media forums and ship from whichever is likely to be quickest (by that read cheapest for the seller).

My argument is that if I wanted to order from Amazon, I would have.

Does make you think though that the seller does not have it on eBay but then orders themselves via Amazon and ships direct to you

Just had two texts in as many minutes.

One to say that my order wass delayed and would bee delivered today, the next to say that it was being returned to the seller because they couldn't deliver it.  >:(

Seller has responded by saying that they used Amazon as a shipping company :-X

And as for paypal... Those shysters have taken to pinging your payment card when you place an order, then claiming a direct debit for the payment when the confirmation email is sent. So far they've not claimed twice, but there's clearly scope to. Not to mention the fact that it ties up twice the amount in the bank account until the pending amount lapses. Not an issue if it is a tenner or so, but for a bigger purchase that could really screw someone over >:(

Ebay don't have delivery vehicles or central distribution centers amazon do, Amazon are offering delivery of goods as a service to customers. Also sellers use both platforms, and dispatch from there premises using Amazon packaging. Not fulfilled by Amazon.

Perhaps, but then Amazon should decide whether they identify as a fulfilment company or as a third party courier.  :-X

Actual delivery companies do just that. Mostly.

Best the seller can suggest so far is to confirm my address  ::) the fact that Amazon are insisting that the order is being returned notwithstanding.

I got two packages from the amazon delivery driver yesterday, one from Amazon and one from wood finishes direct. Both of them had amazon logos on the packaging. No dramas.

I'm finding Royal Mail very poor with normal letter post, but 24 and 48 hour tracked have been very good for a while now.

I buy literally everything from Amazon, as a Prime customer, the free delivery is a must-have.

Their delivery service is second-to-none around these parts.

I get a message to say the item(s) has been despatched, then a rough time-slot, and then another message when the courier is 8 stops away.

Utterly brilliant.

The 8 stops away is well behind. I get that, then he knocks on the door  ;D
But, as you say, very good. We've been prime members for a number of years and, when you consider what you get for £7.99 (music, videos, sport, etc) as well as one day delivery, it's hard to knock it.

The PO tracking is a bit arse backwards in that it only updates once it has been delivered/attempted.

My three gripes in this case are that 1, no mention of the courier until I started being bombarded with updates from Amazon; 2, that they blatantly didn't bother even pretending to deliver it; and 3, that there's no easy way to speak to someone to establish wtf is going on (either Amazon or the seller).

On point 2, by fudging the tracking, they fulfil their delivery obligations, meaning no recourse for their customer. Generally, sellers don't provide separate tracking numbers for each package, so if only one turns up, the tracking shows a fulfilled delivery obligation, inspite of the fact that half of it is missing. Again no recourse.

Our postie is really good, likewise the reserves although when we first moved here we used to get a delivery every two weeks, with most of the post being dumped in various woods...

I should add, the couple next door get Amazon deliveries pretty much daily, so Amazon have no excuse not to deliver here.  :-X

I spent a while trying to write that thought so succinctly :y

During lockdown I have given online shopping  (Prime) quite a hammering.  But as for it being free - it's not.  Just tick the prime box to off and a lot of the prices drop as most items have have delivery inc in the prime price. :-\

Also had 3 deliveries on the same day at times, 2 of them 15 minutes apart on diverent van rounds. :y

I get a lot of non deliveries, but have noticed these are generaly under a fiver/tener and I wonder if they were ever sent in the 1st place because I get an instant refund when I ask "Where's my item" :-X
