Things can always get worse.
I'd be surprised if it could ..... Vernon Kay on one side & Paddy McGuiness on the other .... :-\ :-\
-
TV is so bad I started to watch harry potter for the 1st time ever
-
It is grim, can't argue with you there we have reverted to Scrabble & a couple of drinks..😁
-
It used to be the highlight of the week , now it's just dross , now watching the always enjoyable "great British rail journeys " on yesterday
-
I watched a grand Designs until it was time for the Mrs to watch casualty. I once told her I didn't like casualty and she couldn't watch it. Guess where I ended up? Spooky. ;D

That's just building up to a night of repeats of Ricky Gervais' ouevre, and Boris Johnson's terrible speech delivery.

Not here. My telly became unwatchable as I gradually lost the signal from the local main transmitter probably due to trees growing up, so I swivelled my aerial round to the repeater transmitter and lost most of the Freeview channels, so I only have about 15 channels of shite to choose from! ::)
And yes I'm too tight to pay for 45789 channels of Sky shite TV! ;D

Me too, so I leeched onto my daughter’s Sky using Sky Go to watch the Masters, apart from the poor quality of the coverage, I was pissed off to find that you still have to put up with ads, despite whatever fee you are paying. I cannot understand anyone paying for it. There is enough crap TV on freesat and freeview channels.
-
I threatened to bin SKY completely, eventually they offered me it for £5.00 per month , obviously I haven't got as many channels now but have the ability to record store etc. So to me that's all it's worth SWMBO uses it more than I do for soaps & medical programmes which she likes to watch.

I use my daughter's Netflix acc ;)

It used to be the highlight of the week , now it's just dross
I think, rather than blame the schedulers, we all have to take a look at ourselves and decide where the blame is. After all, it is our generation that bred the millennials who are fixated on celebrity shag house and all the reality shite.
Its a reflection on UK society. Our society. What we created.

This is true, it's just a matter of supply and demand. ::)

So you're saying it's our fault?
You utter bastard, that's just not fair!
It must be somebody else's fault, and we demand that another somebody else does something about it.
-
It is so bad that I use whatever TV time I have to catch up on history channels like PBS America (CH91) and Yesterday (CH25).
Really good they are but as for the main channels, I agree they are almost unwatchable. :( :(

Surely one should only have to accept responsibility if one has actually bred the subsequent generations ::)

Casualty just loves to go 'box ticking'
The snippets I caught of the last episode had a black grandmother, black mother, and her black son.
To tick an extra box the 'woke' black son used to be a black girl before ticking the 'trans option box'..... :)

That's not very diverse... What about the half caste ginger kid that no one mentions...

I believe that even poor 'gingers' have their white privilege to fall back on. :)

That's alright then :D

One new series starting on Tuesday I believe which I actually enjoy watching The Yorkshire Vet, really envy folk who are fortunate enough to live in that area of the country , yes I do realise that the thread was about Saturday TV but I believe like most that it is total rubbish.

Don't be envious of living up there, around boroughbridge and thirsk. They are pleasant enough, but the whole area is rammed between May and September. Strangers wandering around and traffic jams would put me right off. Supermarkets rip you off because they are few and far between, same with fuel.
Folk also mistake everyone for a country bumpkin, who've retired up their and don't really mind in you park in their garage ;D
-
I would have to watch telly to have an opinion of it :-X

I lived near Thirsk for two years and it was very pleasant, but the coldest winters I’ve ever encountered, including the North of Scotland. It was the winds that cut across the North Yorkshire plain. Nice beer there as well.

We have got hooked on The Yorkshire Vet. Waiting for the new series of Our Yorkshire Farm on Tuesday night. I really admire that family, the no nonsense bringing up of their kids, how they all work together to keep the farm. And what a glorious area to live. Envy ;)

Can't be dealing with the American channels, as they are made for people even more thick that the average British viewer, so take dumbing down to way beyond BBC levels.
Plus, been for the Sherman market with ad breaks every 10 minutes, nothing is actually learnt in an hour long programme, as every 6 minutes, we have to have a recap of the pre ad section, and then look forward to what will be later in the programme. By the time that recap is complete, its time for another ad break, and the whole thing repeats.
The Nazi Channel (Yesterday) has good, if dumbed down, programmes. But there are limits to how many times I can watch about the abandoned Goat Canyon Trestle bridge...

Thanks TB! ::) ::) ;D ;D ;D
Actually PBS America often show documentaries made by the likes of the BBC, and those produced by American broadcasters can be very good, but of course, like with watching British TV, you do have to be selective.
Yesterday does more than show documentaries like Abandoned Engineering, with at the moment a new series showing, broadcasting a whole range of history based productions often by great producers.
But yes, so many of the other American channels are best missed. :y

We had Sleet this morning when we left Lincolnshire, and about two hours ago here in Surrey had the same , crazy weather.

That group of stone buildings was a farm, Tony. Hasn't seen an animal for about 100 years, though ;D

Some of the stuff on the Smithsonian channel, (Freeview56) is quite interesting. The Aerial America and Britain ones especially, but they are repeated a hell of a lot.
