Title: Any Gardeners here?
Post by: Mr Skrunts on 04 September 2008, 22:06:03
Any idea what these things are called.

Dunno if the browns one has issues or is its natural colour.

Dont even know whether to class them as plants, bushes or tree's.  loL

Also want to know if they could be dug up and moved easily.?

TIA.   :y

Could be .. Cordyline also known as the "Cabbage Palm" ...

http://www.letsgogardening.co.uk/Information/EG/Cordylines.htm

I see from that link that it used to be called a dracaena .. probably where the old book got it from .... must get some new gardening books I suppose !!!

Possible .

So my nezt question then, looking at the way they are in the picture, do they grow like that or is that how people prepare them.

Seemingly they grow like that, that is why ours is in a pot, to keep it smaller and under control. :)

Have to agree with Mrs 'F'. It's a Cordyline, also know as a Cornish Palm.  :)

The red one could be 'Cordyline australis Red Star' but we'd need to see a closer view of the foliage.

when i was with my x i bought a house plant that grows  tall and outward, it used to sit in the corner, we decided to re position it one day. couple of days later it started dying, we moved it back in its original place and it came to life again. strange how plants know, no wonder prince charles talks to his  ;D ;D ;D
