From the BBC:
The Seychelles, which has fully vaccinated over 60% of its population against Covid-19, is bringing back restrictions amid a rise in cases.
The archipelago of nearly 100,000 people recorded close to 500 new cases in the three days to 1 May and has about 1,000 active cases.
A third of the active cases involved people who had had two vaccine doses, the country's news agency said.
The rest had either had a single dose or were unvaccinated.
Hmmmmm.....

Must be a new strain, place should be nuked just in case

Caught a bit on the TV this morning between the top bod of a travel firm & a government health advisor, who is completely against foreign travel because of mutations occurring from the virus , personally I don't think we are anywhere near being " safe" as some people appear to think.
-
We can't hide indoors indefinitely.
I can see the US government using it as an excuse to completely turn the world on its head.
They're already talking about 'Transitory hyper inflation' whatever that is. And they are looking to union pension funds to cover the cost of the bonds they have been releasing to the open market by insisting that pension funds include at least 30% bonds instead of the traditional 1% :-X

Vaccinations don't stop you catching it anyway ???
they just help reduce the risk of being seriously ill .
Vaccinated people can catch and spread to non vaccinated people and other vaccinated people.
people going on holiday can bring back new mutations, some of which the vaccine won't fight ,
so I don't see the point in any unnecessary travel outside the UK ,and a holiday abroad is unnecessary .
every new case is a potential new mutation ,
one of which could see us with rammed hospitals and thousands more dead .
though are hospitals currently have a 5 million person backlog to deal with right now anyway :(

Re the "unnecessary travel" this is exactly what the health adviser was saying that there is no need to travel abroad , makes sense to me.

First sentence...covid, which the thread is about.
Then.......nothing to do with covid at all, just a dig at socialist Biden. Why?
-
Because batflu is continuing to be used as an excuse for no end of ridiculousness.
Oh, yes, I forgot, alternative opinions aren't allowed anymore.

1% of a population being currently infected is probably on a par with the global average. No mention of the severity of those cases or how long after their two doses they became infected.
The suggestion here was that it could take a month for each dose to become effective.
What percentage of the vaccinated population catch flu after a flu vaccination? Probably more than 1%.
-
Still no 'vaccy' call up for me. Perhaps it is time I found out why I have been neglected.

Ah....it makes me long for the days of empire. :D ;D ;D

Especially as he's about as socialist as David Cameron.
Effective vaccine programs are well proven to dramatically slow the spread of diseases and reduce the damage they do. Older people should remind us how bad diseases like measles could be, compared to the inconvenience it tends to be now. Let alone things like polio etc.
What we don't know yet is how effective the covid vaccines are in general use, or their limitations against mutated variants. That can only come with time, accurate data gathering and careful analysis. Dumping the social restrictions because we've reached an arbitrary %age of population vaccinated is a truly stupid and irresponsible thing to do.

Bat flu has nothing to do with your post, it's just your illogical hate of Biden/Love of Trump. Start a new thread, I'm sure people would love to hear your opinions ::)
.....on the US bond market. ;D

Perhaps my boyish good looks lead them to believe I'm barely out of my teens. :)

Hmmmmm.....
Apparently the vaccine made by the Chinese company Sinovac isn't very effective against the China Virus, so maybe that's the reason? ???
Chile has had a similar experience after vaccinating most of it's adult population with the Sinovac vaccine, and has reintroduced lockdown measures after covid cases rose again. :(
We'll be fine. If you survive the AZ vaccine, you'll be unstoppable! ;D

Can't you just go onto the NHS website, input your NHS number and real age, then book your appointment? :-\
