So I finally managed to get the locking kit to fit! Everything looks fine, timing marks line up etc.
Remove the idlers and backing plate, belt off, check that the new backing plate is the same and start to reassemble. Then I notice that the separate idler is different, it does not have the large adjustment nut with directional arrow?
I fit it anyway, thinking that they may have just changed the design slightly. Everything appears to fit ok, timing marks on the belt line up, but the belt round sprockets 1 and 2 seems a bit slack?
Anyone come across this change to the separate idler?
It is a Conti kit, so not some cheap copy.

Later kits only had one adjustable pulley.
Which is what you have.

I wouldn't try to start it up until you're completely happy that it's right.

Sounds sensible, but how does this affect the setting of the idlers? The dvd says to set the top idler arrow at 12 o’clock and the lower one at 3 o’clock, do I just set the top one at 12?

Those settings are to give the idlers enough adjustment to correctly time and tension the belt. They are not intended to be the final position.
You fit the belt anti-clockwise around the non-adjustable idler, which leave cams 3&4 correctly timed with no need for further adjustment. Then you dial in 1&2 with the adjuster between the heads, and finally set the tension with the adjuster that's near the alternator. I like to do at least two full engine rotations between each step just to be certain.
This all supposes that you're using the timing tools.
