How the fluck can 3 metres of 32mm plastic waste pipe only cost £2.38? That's what I paid today from Screwfix. For nothing, unless I'm seriously out of touch.
-
Stupid thing is I only needed about 150mm, so the darn thing will be kicking about the back for ever.
-
Stick it on ebay for £3 ;)

Plus £15 postage.
Mind you, it would go through the letterbox if the postman stood in the middle of the road and pushed. Might knock me aspidistra off it's stand, though ;D

Does a six inch plastic tube count? And if so, as what? :D

Six inches sounds a bit ambitious, to be honest. ;D

I was buying something from Ching Ching Chinaland last week, wondering how the hell they could make it, ship it halfway around the world, and return a profit from the £20 I paid them.

By selling all your information to the highest bidder.
Oh, and by making shit products using slave labour...

Just two of the many reasons I make a considered effort not to buy anything from them if I can help it.
We are giving them the money / info/ power to rule the world, and I think we are going to regret it. :(

Yup, so you buy British. Only to find out that we just import the shit that is still made in Ching Chong, using the same dubious labour and quality control.

And pay extra for the goods.
China is doing exactly what we did 150years ago; using its resources to out produce everyone else, and use foreign money for internal purposes.

When I was young, 'Made in Hong Kong' was considered a sign that it was shite. Later on this changed to 'Made in Taiwan'. Now it's 'Made in China', but pretty soon that won't put people off at all.
Almost every clothing label now bears the name of India or The Philippines.

Buying on ebay, it doesn't take a genius to scroll down the page to check the business address. The header may well say Leicester, but the return address is several thousand miles east.
The language in the adverts is another humongous clue. ;)

Most (educated) chinese speak and write better english than us.
So as well as a UK address, I normally only go for fast and free... ...but the (pre ebay changing payments) paypal acknowlegement email shows mandarin.
Mind you, must chinese stuff arrives far faster than that of your average, lazy, the world owes me, retarded british seller.

China is doing exactly what we did 150years ago; using their cheap labour and other countries resources to out produce everyone else, and use foreign money for internal purposes.
Fixed that for you Nick. ;)

Thank you, but China is a singular country so a singular, third person, neutral pronoun is correct.
I do applaud your trying though :y
-
I don't know if it's still the case, but you know how in this country you do a year in industry as part of a degree?
Well China has a similar thing. However, your year in industry is in a sweat shop of a factory. Don't do it, don't pass your course. Of course, if your parents are rich, such a lowly task can be bought around.
