Hi! As question stated, what could cause running without oil cooler for a short term? (Blocking of both holes on the sides of oil filter(there would be no circulation between them)
Thanks.

Why? It's there to help cool the engine, so if it's not there,,, engine will run hotter, and hot oil doesn't lubricate very well.

You missed out that it's a (relatively) modern engine that is supposed to run hotter than an older one.

I have known this be done before and I didn't hear of any major issues. Now that was a Vectra B. But I'd argue the engine is better cooled in the omega due to the layout.
If it's short term, I wouldn't have an issue. The thing is, it seems like a lot of hassle for a short term fix. I believe the 2.6/3.2 had stainless coolers fitted, so if that's the problem, just buy one second hand. I will add, you need to check that the threads for the oil cooler pipes as these can strip, so check them out before buying.

Should be fine as long as you’re not towing or hooning about.
