Title: June 21st
Post by: Sir Tigger KC on 01 June 2021, 11:28:04
There seems to be a groundswell of opinion forming that Covid restrictions will have to be extended from June 21st due to the spread of the Indian Variant.  ::)

Is it just media stoking up a bit of hysteria?  Or is it necessary?  :-\

Will they or won't they?  ???

If we have to wait another month so be it
beats the alternative of ending restrictions early before enough people are vaccinated
though I still think in shops etc people should still wear masks and stay the f*** away from me  ::)

I get my second jab this Thursday so by the 21st I will be ok, i think ;D ;)

The infection rates may be going up, but the crucial death rates are still staying low.  So who knows what will happen next :)

They've identified another variant in Thailand that apparently is a mixture of the UK and Indian variants.  ::)

Not sure what they'll call it.  The Brindian variant? The Indish variant?  :)

Really not bothered one way or the other, there will always be idiots around no matter what date restrictions are eased just use a bit of commonsense , it's not rocket science.

Zero deaths today, I can't see Boris getting away with extending restrictions.

Yes, a single data point is just the thing for making decisions.....

One yesterday, a few the day before, it's time to get bac...........I was going to say it's time to get back to some sort of normality but, since no one is taking a blind bit of notice, it's mostly already here.

It will now be all Greek to most of us.  :D

Or it could be clever psychology to persuade the waivers and the youngsters to become vaccinated.

Spent the whole day in the centre of London today and hardly anyone was wearing a mask, which is a worry.  ::)

It seems now that they're re-naming the Indian variant[after India complained that the name reflected badly on the country]and now calling it the Delta variant.Whatever they happen to call each variant it is clear that sooner or later we're going to have to live with itand hope deaths can be held to an "acceptable" level, just a mattter of working out how many is acceptable.

Doesn't matter what they call it, it's still, and always will be, the Chinese Virus.

They call it that because it comes from China.

I have stopped calling it Batflu, because there is insurmountable proof that the only humans can catch it... Certainly neither bats nor fish or anything else sold at that market is capable of catching it.

The problem with India isn't TCV, it is rather that two thirds of the population are basically slaves working for the other third. If the bottom rungs of their cast system do not deserve clean water, then they certainly don't deserve a vaccine. Also, they don't travel. It's only wealthier Indians that travel... If you can't buy food, flying to visit family in Birmingham is unlikely to be a thing.

People are so risk averse these days. :(

This 'covid sniffle' is hardly the 1348-1350 black death.

Over 100,000 more people were born in 2019 than died in 2019.

I would statistically suggest that that covers any variations in 2020, and is therefore more than acceptable.

As it goes to date, 127,750(or so) have died in the UK from TCV... I would wager that there will be significantly more births.
