Post by: TheBoy on 03 June 2021, 17:31:40

Sat here popping pills, and with a tubigrip on.

When you lose a major limb I'll have more sympathy.

RSI on the elbow joint. Suffered from it from mid 20,s to late 40,s due to being too thick to do anything but manual work.
Have been happy not to have it for the last 13 years. Got enough other aches & pains to be going on with.  ;D

It started a week or 2 ago, but I've been ignoring it and carrying on doing what I always do.  And now wish I'd taken advice when it first happened, as it smarts a bit now :(

I can't imagine what would require both wrist and elbow movement.

Oh.....you didn't actually mention the word 'wrist'

Feels like a big red hot needle has been stuck into your elbow joint. Not the most pleasant sensation.

After several injections of something which didn’t cure it, I had an operation to expose the tendon which was then scraped to remove inflamed tissue. I think, as I was out at the time. It did fix it.

That's good, I can still feel the doctor scraping the cartilage on my nose following the grinder incident...

Self inflicted, so sympathy isn't justified...

There was an amusing story with this operation. On checking in to the hospital I was required by a doctor to sign a disclaimer, which, in the small print, allowed anyone other than the consultant to carry out the op. Not happy with this, I crossed that section out before signing, and said doctor was somewhat discombobulated.
Arriving at theatre the following morning, feeling quite mellow after the pre-med, the consultant pulled his mask down to identify himself as he leant over, saying with a smile,  “Satisfied?” ;D

I pondered the same small print before my eye op. Came to the conclusion that if the choice was between the named surgeon or being sent home I would rather have the op.

I broke my femur. Even after six weeks of traction my right leg is 20mm shorter than the left.

And it still hurts nearly forty years later :(

Thankfully up to now I've never fractured anything, always seem to bounce even this week in the garden messing round with the dog he had me over but I escaped injury free.

So did I. I had a metal plate inserted (which I still have)......although it was removed from my leg about 18 months after the accident.

Lovely piece of metalwork. :y

I told the girls I survived a shark attack....... ;D
