been looking to buy a tidy looking berlingo but it has only a month mot left. i asked the vendor why he hasn,t tested it & he was rather vague with an answer. had a look at its mot history & on the 6th july it failed on various things. n/s drive shaft , wheel bearing , steering rack ball joints & both wiper. then on the same day it had another test & passed. But at a different test station than the original. ??? ???

MOT history is of no consequence. It's a berlingo, walk away.

The MoT checker doesn't give you the test address without putting in the V5 reference. A different test will have a different test number ;)
That list could realistically be done on the same day. A quick look at it would soon tell you if they were done or not... Like wise the mileage won't have changed much between the two tests. ;)
If you are interested in it go and look. Doesn't much matter if it's on Ebay/Faceache/Craigslist or Amazon and it's in Bridgend.
Either look at it in person and make an appropriate offer, or bid what you are prepared to pay allowing for not inspecting it/seller ignorance/it's 259.73 miles away. :y

and unless anyone can correct me .
the list of failures is logged into the system and cannot be overuled even if tested somewhere else. its possible that it could have been tested at one station.repaired elsewhere and then tested again elsewhere with the failure items now repaired. either way its certainly a list of things you would be looking at if you viewed the car before deciding to purchase.
not like the olden days where you could go to a less strict test station and just try it !
( all for the better now in my opinion but ive heard there are still a few dodgy ones around )

Run an MoT history check on OU54AEW.
All the MoTs from September 2011 were carried out at the same test centre... all have different numbers.
Likewise both tests in Jan 2010 were done at the same test centre, and both tests in Jan 2011 were at the same test centre. Again four different test numbers.

Depends on what you want it for. The former Mrs 944 and I bad one left to us and it did a great job as a van that was accepted at the local tip. It probably saved us £2-3k in skip costs alone.
But. The autobox was a dire automated manual jobbie that only a specialist could fix and would cost thousands if it ever went wrong. I had a fan position switch fail, there are 2 possible part numbers, neither fitted when I tried them and the one in it had no part number I could see ???. Oh and it had the least comfortable seats of any moving vehicle I've ever had to sit in.
I couldn't recommend one as a long term ownership proposition unless you need exactly what it has to offer and no substitute would do.
Personally I'd buy a Ford s-max/galaxy or zafira every time rather than another bingo.

Berlingos are a better choice than the Combo for passenger use thanks largely to the side doors. Also probably more comfortable than the Ford Connect. Cheap, modest family transport or if you've a wheel chair to haul around.
Don’t think they've done a long wheel base version, but there are much better vans out there if that's what you require.

Even a partial retest will produce a new test number.
Two separate tests carried out at the same time at the same test centre will have completely different, un related test numbers.
You can only view the test address by viewing the actual physical certificate or on line using the 11 digit reference on the V5.
I would politely suggest, at the risk of repeating myself and based on all the information presented, that you have confused the test CERTIFICATE number with the test CENTRE number.

plus, seeing as the test and pass was 11 months ago anyway wether it passed then or not is irrelevent now.
i would still check over all the things that it failed on last year and have a good look around to see any obvious failures for this years test.
also im suprised that it got tested july anyway ? wasnt that in the period when they were adding 6 months on due to the covid ?

There are hundreds of these sheds for sale, why bother with this particular one?

One month MOT..... ::)
Is it possible he already knows that it needs a shit load of expensive parts to get it through the test. ::)

This.
There is no way I (or likely anyone else) would put a car up for sale with less than say, 3 months MOT unless I was pretty sure it would fail spectacularly. STEMO is right, there are enough of these out there, owned by people who don't drive many miles that if you must have one, you will be able to get a good one locally.
