Post by: amigov6 on 04 September 2008, 19:07:05
No not the served with fish variety but engine chips/re maps. I've heard mixed opinions so which if any are worthwhile, what's the power benefit & cost? :-/

the real benefit of any chip is when it is used with other mods, ie porting, cams induction exhaust.

Without them you will still see an improvement, but not the full value

This has been done many times, but in summary:-

I have an M-Tek and a cheap e-bay chip, both improve fuel economy and seem to increase bhp, but at 3 rolling road sessions there have beeen varying results (M-Tek came in at 228 and 199, e-bay came back at 247)

You will see an improvement in consumption by a couple of mpg so its up to you if you go expensive 'named' or cheap e-bay.

Actually, I'm swoping my SuperChip tomorrow for a Courtney Chip for my 2000 MV6 3.0, if you want I can post back the results, (the superchip eats fuel!).
