Hi how can I turn the engine management light out please 3.2 has been running on 5 and eventually got around to doing it today car has not been used for a few months since cylinder breakdown, which was number 6 plug and coil pack so replaced with new but light is still on, if I disconnect battery for a while will it do the trick or is it a tech11 job.
Thanks Kev

if the light is on, then there is still a fault! ;)

That.
The good news is that a 3.2 is OBD compliant, so any of the cheap scan tools will read the codes, give basic live data and enable you to actually diagnose why the EML is on.
Did you really replace just one plug as you post implies? ???

No all six and both coil packs the light was on before and there was fuel in the oil which has been changed with filter thinking the Lamda sensors are still giving reports the car is running smooth and no problems

Nothing showing on pedal trick and is running smooth

Chuck some Wynns injector cleaner in it washed down with a tank of V Power and give it a stretch to knock the cobwebs out of it ;)

Fuel in the oil can only come from one place: the injectors. How much was there, as any noticeable quantity of petrol in the sump is going to be caused by a bad leak. Which could be a leaking injector(damaged injector wiring can cause this), or failed piston rings. It will also make a huge dent in your fuel economy - I had a 2.0l Pinto drop from 40mpg to 15 with just one bad injector and there was a litre of fuel in the inlet manifold when I removed it.

agree with all the above. plus
if you have been using the car for any length of timewith a cylinder missfiring there is always the chance of fuel from that cylinder getting into the sump. the ecu does switch off the faulty cylinder injector( i think) on a constant missfire but will not if its an intermittent issue usually caused by water in the plug well.if you are now running on 6 and are getting no pedal codes ( just a constant flashing) then the fault has gone.
im not sure if the light resets itself after a missfire or needs resetting for that particular fault but when you own an omega its always worth buying a cheap code reader to check and reset things as they invariably will be. one use pays for itself over a garage doing it anyway.

Deffo not injectors it was because 6 and sometimes 4 not firing I had to move it every day as nowhere to store it so startup and stop
