Title: LPG at Morrisons
Post by: tigers_gonads on 15 August 2021, 18:48:42
Just filled up and over heard a conversation with a very pissed off French bloke who wanted to fill up with LPG.
Apparently Morrisons are now playing hard ball and if our continental friends try to use a Euro - UK adapter, they are now to be refused custom and if they persist there plate number is to be taken and banned from ALL Morrisons Garages via the ANPR camera system they all use.
Apparently said adapter is banned under Health and Safety laws because it may leak and Morrisons liability insurance providers have spat there dummy out big time ...........

Is this legit OR is the knobhead (polite version) behind the counter at my local on a goose stepping power trip ??

IMO Morrisons or any other supermarket can decide who they do business with. If they want to stop the use of some foreign adapter things then up to them.

Agree to a point.  At the end of the day, there forecourt / there rules
BUT are these actual adapters legal in this country or not ?
If they are not, is this going to have repercussions for us filling up over there ?

Adapters have always been a grey area, same as when we use adapters in Euroland.  Thats adapters used on the car as well as adapters used to refill gas cylinders.

But a short-lived problem, as LPG as a car fuel is mostly unviable now :(

Got to admit its that time of year when I tell myself the car is going to drastically fail its MOT next month and its time to move on but the shed just keeps going .........
Just hedged my bets this year and splashed out 300 quid on 4 tyres.
Fingers crossed I can get a couple more years out of the old girl.

On a plus side, i've found a app / website for lpg stations (autogas.app) which is pretty accurate and has has found me a few stations down in deepest Lincolnshire and Norfolk where I tend to do my touring when I can escape from home.
In the mean time, I keep saving my sheckles for the day I have to say goodbye to the omega  :'(

Why are they even having a conversation at the Forecourt, you fit the Adaptor before driving in, fill up, pay, drive out, then remove adapter, job done no one's the wiser.  ::)

Exactly, but in all fairness some adapters are quiet long so stick out a fair bit, but yea we're on the same page.
