With 4 adults in car and boot laden with luggage have found that even slight dips in the road cause the exhaust centre boxes to ground out .
Once luggage is removed issue seems to go away so assume extra weight is pushing back end down.
Would this be resolved by new springs /heavy duty ?
Both springs and shocks intact and renewed about 2 years ago

Heavy duty/plod springs will solve that.
Air shocks will be fine with them... It's actually a near perfect combo :y
Believe Albs is running that exact set up, so should be able to confirm ;)

All compressor and airlines removed when Nick did welding last year .Think he wanted the compressor for done project but seem to remember if was ceased up so it got binned .
Am I right in remembering 60037 Kilen springs are HD ,as there website doesn’t confirm either way .
Suspension isn’t really the issue I think it’s the spring compression with a full load and 4 up !

Mine has plod springs on the front but not the rear. Also doesnt have air shocks any more as one of them finally burst last year after around 187k miles.
Cant remember spec of rear springs Ive ended up with now, but it sits a bit too high at the rear for my liking.

Yes Al found them but wanted to be sure they’re HD as set I fitted few years ago are Lesjors ?? so maybe they are tired now after lugging all the stuff I do for work .
It’s sits perfectly on the road just seems to be more compression when loaded in the back .
Would have gone with air shocks but being NA and all the plumbing and pump removed had little option .
Will investigate further next week but suspect will just need to replace springs

Those ARE the HD ones.
Non working SL will allow the softer Elite springs to sag, in which case you will need new springs anyways because they will be really saggy with standard shocks ;)

Current set up is std Sachs rear shocks and lesjords springs some 50k old .
Just curious about how much a spring will degrade/compress over that time frame as they get a hard life with a full boot all the time .
Recent holiday trip with 2 adults in the back and weight of luggage caused exhaust to bottom out but once luggage removed issue of grounding removed hence suspicion that springs are sagging

Not much else to investigate then. Standard shocks have minimal impact on ride height ;)

If they were Elite spec springs (oem or after market) they wouldn't stand a chance without self levelling.

No they are std non SL springs in it at present but Lesjors? Think that’s how it’s spelt as advised to avoid KYB,s last time

If you're abusing them and they lasted two years, then they aren't upto the job.
The difference between kerb weight and gross weight is your load capacity. Without looking, the boot capacity is normally only 100kgs or so with five people in the car. ;)

Lots of pipework also removed and little hope of finding new SL shocks hence my decision a few years ago to run stock std .
Car normally runs just driver but with around 2 adults weight in boot .
Holiday luggage similar weight so 2 adults in back with weight of a further 2 in boot !!

I had a pair of Sachs springs on the rear of mine for about three years. This probably equates to approx. 10k miles of rarely more than two people in the car and no significant weight in the boot, and they both snapped.
Springs seem to be a bit of a potluck thing these days.

State if the roads I imagine doesn’t help .
I’m happy to replace springs just wanted to ensure I get Heavy Duty this time as unsure about the last pair and think 50k with weight I lug around isn’t too bad a life span .
Also as haven’t had 3 extra people in car and luggage for past 2 years maybe it’s just my memory of how long things last now
