Had a notification to say my g.mail account settings are out of date.Click on "fix now" and a box appears with g.mail address click next or continue[I forget which]and it then requests my password, enter that and another box appears saying windows/microsoft want access to my account in order to be able to edit/delete/send e-mails,delete contacts etc and a few other things.Scroll down and it has boxes to either accept or cancel that click on cancel and it shuts the whole process down and goes back to my screen saver. Why should I allow them access to my account to-at least it seems-do as they please with it? Is there any way to update my account without allowing this?

You presume that the original email was genuine ???
From the sounds of it, you have given them your passwords... :-\

It wasn't an e-mail just a notification that comes up as a notification across the top of the screen when I go to check my e-mails and only occurs with my g-mail2 account and none of the other addresses I have.

And ???

Is this not Microsoft mail trying to add your Gmail account to the local application?
