Time has come to do something with my Hi Fi.
I have a Technics SUV460 amp. CD with remote, Tuner and double tape deck. They have been packed away for 19 years. Got power leads, connecting cables, manuals even.
We have moved on musicwise and just listen to streamed music on a bluetooth speaker.
Question is; Is there a market for them? We are coming over to England next week with the car. Ebay? Postage would be hefty.

I had a similar set up - a Trio (which later became Kenwood) deck, amp, twin cassettes, and I had added a Sony CD player to it, all stacking. Great quality sound but very bulky. I could have put it on Ebay, but a local HiFi specialist bought it off me. Gave me £50 for it (cost a great deal more than that when I bought it new!) He said there is a market for them but relative limited. Maybe a bit more of an audience out there now with the increased desire for vinyl, but for me I was just getting rid of something that had outlived its usefullness.

After 19 years of being dormant the belts in the CD and tapes will probably be perished ,capacitors may be blown etc :(
before you try and sell it ,it might be wise to make sure it still works .
if you sell it on ebay then you as the seller would be responsible for the return shipping costs on top of a full refund IF the buyer decides it's faulty ;)

Every 4 years or 4000 CDs , whichever was the soonest.
Dave. That is a valid point. I had two sets of speakers. Kef - cant find them despite their size! The other set are some nice Goodman ss 40’s. Just prised the cover off and the bass speaker cones are perished. Quite depressing. No doubt Europarts do replacement cones.

They don't... Fortunately, Screwfix do :y (https://www.screwfix.com/c/safety-workwear/traffic-cones/cat850506)

b&o used to use rubber surrounds that perished quite quickly and usually other manufacturers outlasted them but the surrounds are available to refurb as the cones rarely fail. not too tricky a job to do but worth taking your time yo get them evenly positioned.

As said, you can replace the rubber / foam surrounds reasonably easily with care.
If you're passing my way on your travels have a word with this guy: www.hifihangar.co.uk (http://www.hifihangar.co.uk)
He could probably refurb the speakers while you have a cuppa or would probably be interested in taking the separates off your hands. As said, it won't be big bucks. £50 or so sounds about right.
Personally, I'd keep and amp and speakers and hook up a streamer to them. :y

On a more serious vein. A good vintage amp, c/d, tuner, cassette deck could fetch up to £150/£200 if they are in pristine condition. , Still use mine most days as i have some great vinyl albums and some stuff on cassette that is no longer available.

What are these things of which you speak ?

If you havent listened to music on vinyl, you havent listened to music properly. ;)

Hmmm.
Kevin- thanks for the heads up for a repair man. I am thinking either bin them here in Spain or offer them to a forum member in return for some beer money. If anyone shows an interest here is my approx itinery. Arrive Portsmouth 15th Sept. Up to East Leicester for a few days whilst we do the PCR test. Then up to Scarborough. Then might go back via Portsmouth to Northern France. Probably will go up to Portpatrick in SW Scotland.
Pm me for more info if interested. I would rather not just bin them.
