Title: Astra H Diags
Post by: Jimbob on 07 September 2008, 20:36:10
Got home from Newent to releive the babysitters....

My Sister gets in her 56 plate Astra H, and it just wont 'catch' tried ages to start it.

Get the old tech2 out, 'bugger its can'
i know, accelerator, brake, ign on trick....

cool - digital mileometer changes to ECN, and the fault codes are digitally displayed!  No codes though :(

put the car on the flat, checked plugs etc, all seemed fine, was about to tow it a mile or so ready for the RAC call, one more try to start it and it finally caught!

God knows what was wrong, maybe the rain, maybe 2 wheels on kerb, 2 on road, no codes to say :(

Any other theory's?

If she pressed the throttle as she started it, then it may have flooded, i have had this on injection cars before........

Would then need to try and start with WOT for a bit then foot off again.

My best guess for now anyway.

Sounds like it had a bout of Valetors syndrome.  ie water in the electrics, the only problem is there is a chance of corrosion on the terminals, but that wont show straight away.
