By a bottle of distilled water and use that :y
The different colours of coolant are generally not compatible ;)
I should add that apparently similar colour coolants are not necessarily compatible either, as they are chemically different... The colour simply being a dye rather than what causes them to be incompatible. :y
Incidentally, not all Omegas use the same coolant, so be mindful of that too...

........
we have nice soft water up north .... not that orrible hard stuff from darn sarf. Tap water is plenty good enough for a radiator up here - even on the wrong side of the Pennines ;) ;) :y

I might... The Goodyears currently fitted are a bit 'off' now it's cooled down a bit... The question then being do I re shoe the 18"s or throw a set of winters on the 16"s ;D

Winters on the 16's. Much cheaper. 16's may also be narrower, so you can fit narrower but higher profile tyres (to maintain the rolling radius) which is even betterer.
I may have 4x235-45-17's Good year winters on Omega elite alloy rims for sale shortly. ::)
Can we have a what colour is the best for antifreeze thread too please :-)

Both wheel sizes have the factory fitment...
245/45/18 and 225/60/16 respectively ;)
May rustle up a set of part worn Continental Winter contacts... And fit them to the front... Discuss :D

Blackcircle says....
245/45/18 Incontinental = £175 Each new.
225/60/16 Incontinental = £125 Each new.
No contest. Plus it'll be easier to fit the snow chains on the narrower wheels. So assuming it's correct wheel drive, 2 part worn winters on the 16" fronts, snow chains on the rear, what could possibly go wrong :D

Is this for your annual trip to the Alps?

Is this for your annual trip to the Alps?
No, I presume it's for DGs trip to Gatwick or wherever. Maybe he's setting up a courier company to keep TB/Brackley supplied with essential eBay stuff this winter?
I'm looking at 205/55/16's for more like £75 each, and I'll probably buy 4 :D. Won't touch Continental though - effing useless things E rated for both Fuel economy and Wet grip, plus 72db noise. How's anyone supposed to get any sleep whist driving with these things on?
Anyway- what colour antifreeze is more important in this thread.

I'm guessing red. I put red in all my cars, no matter what's in there already. Some of my cars have ended up with purple or brown and, as I couldn't find antifreeze in any of those colours, I just put more red in. Then it went redder. Ok?

My E Class estate came with them fitted from the previous owner. Couldn't fault them.
Oh, and I think that had blue antifreeze ::)

Both. In three owners time he won't care or be paying to fix it ;D

Light red or darker red are the two I go for. The light red makes the blue in there go purplish, the dark red makes it lean towards brown. I could do with a small water leak somewhere, then it wouldn't take too long to get to an acceptable* colour.
*Acceptable to pedants, not me.
At the moment it's kind of luminescent orange, btw. Quite attractive, really.

Oh dear. I suggest you keep a few pennies from your £200 Boris Bribe winter fuel payment somewhere in the glove box so you've got enough for your bus fare home once the temperatures really drop. (AIUI OAP bus passes sometimes aren't accepted during peak times so you might have to actually pay for something) ::)

Nah, it'll be fine. I never listen to the advice given on car forums and I've never come a cropper yet.
OAP's don't go out at peak times or after dark, btw. At morning peak time I'm having my all bran and at evening peak time I'm having a nap.
Thanks for your concern. :y

Is bran a good idea? All things considered... ::)

Oh no better for getting uphill but the same for going downhill, however
I’ve a nice set of Yokohama gaurdex M&S for the winter and with the LSD front and rear it goes absolutely everywhere the ride height will allow with no loss of grip at all in the snow.

Yes Malcolm, I have a set of m&S for the Astra too. Drivers really should have the chance to experience just how much difference they make then they probably won’t even venture out in the snow at all without them👍
