I would vote for leaving it unchanged. But if it must be renamed, the Grockles Home would have to be top of list...
-
Looking at the gradient maybe they could rename it "Slope Lane". :y
Oh, wait. :-X
-
How I laughed last evening when Black History Month was advertised on TV followed by an invitation to watch catch up of Martin Clunes in Night Stalker .......whoops . ;D
-
They could have told the woke holiday maker to p!ss off back home and mind his own business i suppose. :D That would do the local tourist board a load of good. ;)

I expect that's the general sentiment over Swanage way Ronny! ;)

Now, now, Kevin. ::)
Didn't the fat bastard, the fop and the midget, get into trouble for something similar. :)

Complaint from a person on holiday.... ;D ;D
OFFS.

We have a couple of Blacker Lanes not far from here, one in Barnsley and one in Wakefield. I shall contact the relevant councils and tell them to expect a backlash.
It won't be from holidaymakers ;D and certainly not locals, but some nosey bastard will probably look at google maps and make a special journey.

I suppose Coon in County Kilkenny is ok :-\

Apparently Mary Poppins is racist in 2021 due to the 'blacked up' faces in the chimney sweep dance routine.
Saying that Victorian chimney sweeps did tend to have black faces is also racist. :-X

wouldn't that be a blacklash?
Altbough the reactionary jerks on here would soon organise their own whitewash.

Other place names include Piddletrenthide, Piddlehinton, Shitterton and Scratchy Bottom! I kid you not! ;D

Bottom is old English for the floor of a valley.
My example also includes one of the many English words for a group of trees - hurst - and Snodda is supposedly a Viking name.
So it's Snod's wooded valley. There's Snodland on the other side of the river.
-
Then there’s Cockermouth they surely haven’t spotted that one yet👀

Coombe or Combe, is another old English word for valley, maybe specifically West Country/Devon? The Welsh version is of course Cym, sounding similar. ;)
Examples round here are Holcombe, Rocombe, Harcombe and Coombe Street. :)

Indeed. Although coombe is also used here in Kent and Sussex
Holcombe is the address of the school I went to. That's different, because it's where the wife of the site's original owner came from.
Then we end up with slightly daft names like Hurstwood, which means wood-wood. Probably coined by some plank....
