Title: Door weather strip removal?
Post by: omegod on 04 November 2021, 11:50:11
I need to take the seal out on a rear door, I assume it's called a weather strip? runs widthways across the top of door panel and bottom of the window.

Any tips for not destroying it in the process so it can be reused ???

It's 'permanently' attached to the door card.

To remove the weather seal, you have to take the door card off.

Doing that will probably damage some of the clips that attach the seal to the panel, so you'll have to glue it back together.

It simply lifts off.

If it lifts out with the door card, simply slide it off the plastic L channel. Same across the range, but can't remember if they are sided or not...

Outer one is the same, start lifting one end and simply pull out ;)

Do you mean the strip on the outside that sits on the door top?

They are held into the top of the door by folded metal clip formed from the door skin, they are a tight fit but once out usually bend - Had to glue one of mine in to stop it lifting.

Thanks guys, it was the outer on the rear door and I've just popped it out, it was ridiculously easy. I somehow assumed it would be a lot harder than it was  ::)
