Nice drone work, and I know the area well from school walks many years ago.
Do you happen to know anywhere that can fix my son's drone, which he unfortunately backed into a tree top in sport mode last year? :'(
It's the DJI Mavic Mini, and only needs a couple of the arms replaced, but nowhere seems to want to sell spares, or offer repairs.

A DJI Mini 2 would have been almost as good, and thats far more reasonably priced. If 1080p was enough, a DJI Mavic Mini (1) would almost do, if range wasn't an issue, and Argos had the 3 battery Fly More one for about £260 a couple of weeks ago (sadly, not now).

The whole aircraft comes in at a shade under 900g, to comply with upcoming regulations. I'd guess on the Mavic 3, the battery made up about half of that weight.

Plus I have a monthly flight going back well over a year about the fast* progress of HS2, which I was going to edit into a motage of it over the year... ...but Jan 22 and Jan21 look identical.

You will really struggle to find spares for DIY repairs. Occasionally, parts from crashed ones come up on ebay, but they might not be any better than what you have.
DJI run a repair service, as do some UK based retailers like Heliguy. Whether or not its worth it on an old, limited aircraft like a Mavic Mini 1 is another matter.
My Mini 1 only gets charged up now for people "who want a go", as I don't really care if they hit a tree.
Must have been unlucky to break it. Of the few crashes I've had with DJI ones, the only damage is my lounge doorframe, from when I was being a bit too cocky and flying it around the house - I'd made it upstairs and back down, and it was the last door before I was going to land. I missed.

Thanks, that was about what I thought, and is typical of the throwaway tech society nowadays I suppose. Similar story with old GoPro stuff...I'd have a go at getting new arms 3d printed using carbon reinforced plastic, but would take time modelling the parts that I don't have atm. He was unlucky that it was in sport mode when he went back instead of forward, easy mistake when you've rotated 180deg during flight. It brings to mind the other advice I heard regarding larger rotary aircraft, which was that you really need to buy 2 aircraft, because one is almost always being serviced, inspected or repaired...
BTW, HS2 is starting to move forward again around here, that is until they unearthed a roman dual carriageway near Chipping Warden apparently! Maybe the Roman coins they discovered will help pay for it...

Last time I flew over Chipping Warden way was last Spring, and not much progress beyond reducing the amount of the airfield that the car leasing place uses
