Have to pay extra for that down the MK snowZone... but i bought it for a trip i will do at the end of the year. I used a eBay sniper tool, did not expect to win it, forgot about it, till i won it! ;D

I use ebay sniping tools all the time. OK, 99% of stuff I bid on I lose, but get the occasional bargain.
Spent a fortune on real bargains on egay the last couple of weeks ::)

With sniping, fairly irrelevent, as the highest set snip will win, and humans bidding in last 10s is uncommon/risky, and would have already made up their mind on max bid anyway (so in effect, a snipe).

£175 for an Omega front end :y

I leave mine at 5 secs's as any shorter and u hit the slightest connection problem and the darn thing ends up not bidding at all. Of course, life being what it is, it seems to happen with something u really want that doesn't come up every day on ebay .., at a bargain price lolol.

But i always miss or forget, this way, you see the item you want, you bid your amount and move on, if you win, then whoooo
Its also a good way not to get too excited and bid more than its worth :y
-
lol, thats happened to me even with baygenie lolol. Managed to leave it running when i shouldn't have as well, got a sewing machine I didn't want he he. But when all's said and done I save a fortune using Baygenie overall.

What am I missing with eBay sniping? I just don't get it.
All I do is decide the maximum amount I want to pay, bid that and forget about it. eBay then automatically bids up to that sum in steps when or if anyone else makes a bid.
So what's the point in using a sniping tool to place a bid in the last few seconds? If your max is lower than mine, you still lose.

It leaves no time for a come back..
EG i saw the bag i wanted for £10, with 2 days to go, if i put my £20 bid in, it would push the price up then, to what ever the last guy set his max amount it, its then got time to add more. (2 days)
If you put the price you are willing to pay, and bid in the last 5 seconds, you steal it, no time for a come back.
-
i bough a renault espace the other day for a very reasonable price so very happy with that

Tunnies idea .. and the whole system of sniping, is designed to beat those folks who
a) don't bid their maximum but go up incrementaly
b) sit and wait for the last second to bid manually
c) go over their maximum - "ebay fever"
If you only ever bid a maximum and refuse to go higher... sniping becomes unneccesary .. but you have given others the oppurtunity to go higher .. sniping is supposed to prevent this
If you snipe at your maximum you will lose to someone who also snipes at a higher maximum most of the time ... if you set the timing very tight you may still beat another sniper .. but if your system coughs you may lose out.
-
Tunnie is correct & I usually do it the "snipe way" when you put auto max bid in the price keeps going up days often before the sale thus pushing up the price it does help the seller in some cases but many people often bid at the "death" i have seen items get 10+bids in last seconds from like £20 to maybe £100 as many do bid in last 5-10 secs.. but if you put a very high bid in at beginning you will win it, at a cost ::)
With auto bidding you have to hope no one else really wants it or you often end up paying max price as some idiots try to find what the auto price bid is by bidding just above several times (crazy) ;)
