Same for everyone who's energy supplier went tits up.
Looks like the tizzy isn't as dramatic as the gas, so I'm looking at a more realitsic £2.5-3k pa for energy, lower than the predicted £3.5 I was expecting :)

Finally got the electric notification for the price rise.

Saw this a while ago and remember EON saying on thier website that they used 100% renewable energy. (Which should be keeping costs down) Ratheer than being raised.

Which is clearly 'dangle berries', aimed at conning the misinformed do-gooders.
Those little electrical pixies running up and down the cables don't sit outside an Octopus house and say to themselves "I can't go in there, I came from a gas fired power station" ;D

i have no choice stuck with electric only with a rubbish heat source

Had a look at my account today currently paying £115 per month for gas & electric locked in till September & at the moment £243 in credit, new deal if I accept £345 per month seems quite a price hike to me that's with Scottish power.

I moved to my current home Oct 2009 the supplier was EON, the previous bill payer had left owing over £1500 (Edtimations) because of this I could not change suppliers and was refused a bill in my own name till the outstanding debt was paid.
Throughout this I paid money into a tempory account whilst they got thier act togehter (Took 12 months to sort)
I seem to remember there were no standing daily charges. I paid £50 per month to the temp acc untill I had my own.
When I was back on track I Was £600 in arrears. I stayed with EON (Seperate bills for each supply) Paying £50 usage and £50 arrears till all sorted. At the time I was watching a 42" Plasma TV which helped run up huge bills. :-X
Changeing TV's brought the bills tumbling , never domestic applieances (A++) helped further etc etc.
Over the years my mothly bill had dropped to as little as £60/65 per month, no arrears at all and often quite a sizable refund every year. Last year was over £300
Currently £184.49 (E) + £278.30 (G) = £462.79 in credit but will change monthly.
Standing charge for electric went from .24p to .46p daily, I have bumped my DD up to £175 PM and when the bills settle I reckon I may have to up that to at least £00 PM.
Next investment will be a bundle off wooly jumpers I reckon. :y

You might be on a different tariff M'Lud, as I joined Octopus when Avro Energy went bust and my tariff is called Flexible Avro. :)
Oh if only I had had a CBA moment last August when my deal with Eon finished and just signed up again with them with the 2 year fix they offered, but no off I went determined to find the cheapest deal! ::)
Doh! :D
I'd be as smug as Uncle STEMO now! ;D

I wonder if any of our more senior members will freeze to death? I suppose they could set fire to their omegas to keep warm? :-\
Hang on, I might have just hit on something. Buying an omega and setting fire to it to keep warm may just be cheaper than gas. Hmmmm...... ;D

or buy French cars and let them set fire to themselves
I park a thirsty omega outside my house to lure climate protesters to my door and burn them instead :P

For the past year I've been paying £37.40p per month for gas[British Gas] had my latest bill through last week and my new monthly payment will still be £37.40p! Electric[also British gas] is on a pre-payment meter-was like that when we moved in-and costs me a few pence under £35 per month.
