Some refrigeration engineer you, he told you the symptoms two posts ago ;D
The make will be The Chinese Freezer Company or similar.

Buy another fridge and use that one as a freezer. No need to thank me :-*

It's a Hotpoint Iced Diamond RFA 52.

A quick Google suggests the thermostat is pretty cheap so it may be worth trying. :y

Hotpoint. Cheapskate. ;D
How's your £10 Chinese mobile phone? ;D
-
Tip it on it's side for a hour or so, sometimes works. Erm, don't forget to empty it first. ;)
-
Just found the original bill of sale.
13th February 2012. :)
If I can't fix it without paying out I may (with regret) buy a new one. :)

Thanks Ronny.....this plus a good kicking may make it learn some manners. :)

I had this fridge freezer and had the same issue. Bought and fitted a new thermostat. Problem solved. :y
Three years later had the same issue. Bought another thermostat, but this time didn't solve the issue and it went to the tip. ::)
Replaced it with a second hand Hotpoint F/F in good condition for £40. :y

At that age, replace it. The seals will be tired, refrigerant not as pressured, and it just having to work harder.
But if its frost free, a defrost can help, esp if you ram it full regularly. I was always having to defrost the last frost free one, as ice was forming near the fan, jamming it, because Mrs TB is the queen of overfilling fridges, freezers and cupboards.

And you're the king of emptying them ;D

Yep....it is full of ice and full of frozen food.

Well that's your (or more likely Mrs Opti's) first task then. Defrost it and then see what's what. :y
A while back my supposedly frost free £40 F/F wasn't freezing properly, and when I took off the covers at the back of the freezer compartment, I found an ice berg capable of sinking the Titanic! Defrosted it and all is well! :y

Thanks, Tig.
Even though I can afford a new one I get a certain satisfaction from keeping old appliances going. Be it fridge....washing machine....oven etc..etc. :y

I'm saving the planet.
Nothing to do with me being a tight git. :)

Frost Free relies on there being much more space for airflow inside the F/F. If you block the airflow, the system works overtime trying to cool it, which just causes ice formation (due to lack of airflow), which makes it worse and worse.
