We'll see but, even though only a measly 38° forecast up here, I'm staying in after 11am.
-
I thought you would be down the library for free air con and some culture!
-
I will be trying to sleep between shifts ! but when at work in the evenings A/C ill be turned down as low as it will go.
Also need to keep an eye on pets in those temps. Apparently even the little Tortoise will struggle if it cant dig itself down to hide in cooler soil.
-
Back in the day we were told it's going to be very hot tomorrow so get out there and enjoy it. :y
In 2022 nanny tell us to be careful and afraid. :-\
People have been dealing with hot weather long before there was any form of government.
-
Didnt have to deal with 40 degrees though. ;)

Didnt have to deal with 40 degrees though. ;)
The summer of 76 was blisteringly hot for weeks on end. Hose pipe bans and water shortages everywhere. :)
Before I was born but I have heard the stories. :)
-
76, I remember doing stage rallies that year in my ultra lightweight Cooper S. Perspex windows that didn’t open ( except for navigators side which had a disc for paperwork) No fan mechanism either.
-
So far I've heard; Trains stopping due to buckled tracks. Some (most) trains don't have AC and the windows don't open, so you'll be done to a turn by the time anyone reaches you. Car engines overheating and stopping, leaving you in a mobile microwave on the motorway. Tyres bursting, leaving you in a mobile.....blah, blah. Death from heat stroke, heart attack or stroke. Hospitals being overwhelmed and equipment not working (that's assuming you get to the hospital and the ambulance hasn't broken down and microwaved the paramedics).
All we need now is pestilence and locusts. ;D

Iirc one day in 76 reached around 35. Nowhere near what is predicted for next week. :)

The BBC only just stopped short of this, but there is a few days left before the world comes to a fiery end. ::)

A quick Google shows a peak of 36.......5 consecutive days of 35 or over, and 15 consecutive days of 32 or over.
I doubt it will make 40 but even if it does it makes for a great opportunity to enjoy the sun, drink beer, and have sweaty sex. :y

Well it's a nice summer's day here, the Mondeo tells me it's 23℃ and there's a pleasant sea breeze. :)
The sort of day that when we were kids, the paddling pool would come out and we'd all run around naked! :D
Apparently these days the poor little mites have to stay indoors.... :-\
-
28 here. Just getting us ready for tomorrow and Tues. ::)
-
Thunderclouds have rolled in here, had a rumble of thunder and starting to rain. Big heavy raindrops. :)
Don't think it will come to much though. :-\

-
Just watched 2 minutes of BBC Breakfast, for a change. A medical expert was informing viewers how the heat could cause problems for pregnant people.
The second time she said it I changed channel. Might give it another chance in a year or so. ::)
-
What pregnancy?
-
What pregnancy?
The Tapas and Tropical shaped one just above Percy :D

According to what? I doubt the gauge on your car is that accurate.

Been out for my morning constitutional, then to Asda, in for the day now. We live on a busy road, so there is plenty of
bare flesh for me to letch at interesting things going on. :)

With the state of some of them, they should really be under cover. :D

Speaking of the 'pregnant people' that Albitz mentioned and the Alice in Wonderland rabbit hole that the democrats love so much. :-X :-X

Drove back from Yorkshire this morning with the tin tent saw no bodies at the roadside nor did we witness anyone begging for water at the roadside , traffic moving perfectly well total boll ocks couple of warm days & the morons issue warnings now sitting in the garden with a nice cold beer it's what comes naturally when you're thirsty & have common sense.

According to the car. How else would I measure it whilst getting into it? ;D
-
Currently 32 here.
According to my phone. Just incase someone asks.
I might also ask the car, for balance. ::)

I've just done my good deed for the day and lent my 93 year old neighbour my fan. :)

She/he will probably poke their fingers through the grill, chop them off and sue you. :)
-
We did our good deed of day today. Saw a guy broken down 40C , waiting for recovery. He was Red in the sun but sensibly on roadside for safety. Went back and gave him a cold brick of orange juice.

Interesting how there were lots of big fires around London yesterday, including one in Essex apparently started by a spontaneously combusting compost bin ( ??? ) that destroyed several houses, yet the day before when it was only marginally cooler there weren't anything like as many fires. ??? ::) :-\
-
You got your fan back yet? Any blood or fingernails?

Nope, but I did see her yesterday and she's alive and well. :)

Grass bins do get hot as it decomposes. We did an experiment at prep school measuring the change of temperature in a bin bag of grass cuttings and it eventually started smouldering after a couple of weeks drying out/decomposing.
Any murmur of a fire brigade strike in the offing now they've had things to do :-\

I doubt it at least two should have rotted away in prison. Incidentally JermyWhine and his brother went to the same school. And look how they turned out :-X
School motto was Floret qui Laborat. And to be fair, I have always worked.

Windows open, fans still on, trying to cool the house back down still. 24,8C in this room today, so getting it down. The poor servers will be happier :)

Remarkably similar to a popular slogan in continental Europe around 1939 - 1945... :-X ;D

I'd like to claim this as original, but I read it on another forum - July 2022 was hot enough to make Prince Andrew sweat again 8)
