Title: Classic 17 year old Vauxhall for five grand.
Post by: Field Marshal Dr. Opti on 02 August 2022, 17:16:00
The used market is crazy at the moment. I paid £2400 for mine 7 years ago.

Only 11 Signums on Autotrader and only one with a proper V6 petrol engine.

....especially as it is the 'poverty spec' design model with manual box, cloth seats, and budget tyres of unknown origin. :)

A few years ago this would have struggled to reach four figures.

Must have been a special order because the manual wasn't a retail option on those...

Ah! I was going to make a flippant comment about the number of pedals, but didn't know the extra pedal was a special order.

I always thought  the manual option was available on the poverty spec models, but vey few people picked it.

I know  the 'Elite'  variant of the Signum like mine were auto only.

This is an early car so only 230 BHP. :-\

Sadly not on the retail V6 petrol. Officially they only sold the 2.8T in auto except for the VXR and Plod. Quickest petrol was the 2.0T for the rest of the range.

The 3.0 V6 diseasal was also available in Sri, Design and Elite. With both boxes.

I do like the colour though. I imagine that colour is pretty rare.

What is it?

Primer grey. Which suits it.

As a young lad grey primer was a very popular colour. It was commonly found on the front wings and doors of many poorly built cars of the era.....such as MK1 Escort and Austin/Morris 1100/1300.

Grey primer is vey popular again in 2022 but it has moved upmarket and is sold to 'pretentious London types' as  a new idea. ::)

BMW grey primer is pretentiously called Brooklyn grey, and Audi grey primer is called Nardo grey.

I seems these day that if it doesn't move it gets painted grey.  ::)

I call it Bleddy Grey.  :)

IE Oh FFS not another bleddy grey house!  ;D

Unfortunately the prettier member of the household likes Nardo grey. It's an effort to dissuade her from painting her Golf in a similar hue. We all have our flaws...

nice enough looking car in what looks pretty much immaculate order given its a 2005 .bar the rear bumper obviously and has a proper engine in it ! so you never know ?
but
used car prices being what they are at the moment !
we just been looking for a first car for daughter and 2008 clits that were a grand are now up for nearly £2500. weve settled on a 2010 pug107 but given its a low mileage immaculate example cost nearly £4000.
nowt is cheap nowadays.
