NEVER take a car to Kwik-sh!t for an MOT  :o
but i guess you know that now  ::)

though solid metal won't hole if you hit it with a hammer
(though an MOT tester is only allowed to use the correct corrosion assessment tool ) NOT aa hammer  :(

track rod ends are cheap and a common fail

your car should not significantly leak coolant(or any other fluid)  during a test , so something was on the way out anyway  ::)

leaks and track rod ends are an easy fix , rust not so much  :(

Report them to VOSA. There is a process for it.

Yes its pressure of thumb and forefinger to test for corrosion, the tool (plastic hammer and scrapper for brake pipes) is just to sound out panels. Mainly to check for bodged repairs. They are liable for any damage they have done, do no repairs and get a complaint raised against them with VOSA. As the ad went "you cant bodge better than a Quick Fit fitter"

I would never take a car to Kwikfit unless you know (trust) the guy doing it especially to an old car like the Omega.

Hopefully this shouldn't be a to expensive fix for you.

I would defiantly make a compliant.
