Post by: tunnie on 09 September 2008, 20:28:53
Need to find the cheapest way to get my car across the water, going to Holland. Boat preferred over train, anybody seen some recent offers?

don't like the train, its just like being in the tube in your car.

No time to get up and enjoy some fresh air, watch the white cliffs disappear, and grab a fried breakfast.

Trying to find the place i last used - affliliated with one of the "booze'n'fag run" sites - they had a link to very discounted rates.

For Holland, it'd probably be Norfolk Line or P&O, wouldn't it?

Thats the point - get the crap part of journey over with.

And you don't have to stay with your car....

But the extra hour it takes, I'd rather stop elsewhere on route and stretch legs properly, and have a decent breakfast, rather than the plastic shite they server up on the ferrys

Norfolk line the cheapest, go off peak into dunkerque and you can do it for less than £30.And the boats are brand new.
I hate the tunnel, at least on a boat they can send help, no chance in the tunnel.

Last time I planned to go anywhere on the tunnel the whole rather thing was closed and I ended up shelling out 400 quid on a flight. Then the useless batsrads wouldn't let me travel home on the tunnel because I hadn't used the outward part of my ticket. Haw the break was I supposed to have travelled out on the tunnel, then? By walking the track and dodging the HT power lines that were allegedly dangling all over the place? >:(

I will always use a ferry from now on. Granted they can sink but they're not likely to all sink on the same day, taking out the sea with it so no other boats can run. Besides, as said, they don't like f@rt gas. :-X
