Title: US/Nato tanks in Ukraine.
Post by: Doctor Gollum on 25 January 2023, 23:04:38
How is a battalion of M1 Abrams MBTs not an offensive weapon?

Especially when bolstered by a battalion of Leopards...

What is the alternative?

Wait till Putin over runs Ukraine in Spring and then turns his attention to the Baltic States before heading further West.

Continue drip feeding just enough support so Ukraine doesn’t win but not enough to defeat Russia.

Keep the war going until Putin dies of old age ( or a fall from a window) . Then common sense would prevail perhaps.

How long can the West go on “ supporting”  This undeclared WW3 is hurting everyone and no one has mentioned the cost. Maybe after Covid Crisis, governments have discovered bottomless money pits?

At this stage either end it or leave them to it.  ::)

Thing is, it's one thing to send guns and bullets or trucks or even trucks, because they can all be used/maintained by the person using them.

The tanks, especially the Abrams needs a support team to run with it.

And at some point, they will breakdown and it wouldn't be practical to drag them back to Poland each time. So presumably the US will be sending teams over with the tanks. So at some point they will be actively involved on the ground, because the moment those tanks arrive they will become a legitimate military target.

Or have I missed something.

Apparently we're sending 14 of our tanks.

Keep up at the back!  ;D

Britain announced that days ago presumably to lead the way for Europe to send more practical tanks.

One hopes that the NATO strategists have it right in its outcome predictions.

Either way is dangerous, but Putin wants to rampage through Europe, he needs to be encouraged to think of alternatives.

A single headshot should suffice.

A single headshot should suffice.

I'm certain that assessments have been done as to the efficacy of single bullets, high windows and polonium salads. Sadly, the fact that none of these things have taken place probably means that the alternatives to Putin have been assessed as worse than the incumbent!

Is that really what's going on or do industry and the economy need a decent war to kick them up the arse... 🤔

Have you got a YouTube video to explore that assertion?

No need, there is historical form for it.
