Hi All,
I hope you are all well. My magnificent low mileage 2003 2.6 needs the elusive seal 90467543.
Does anyone know where I can obtain one? If they are truly unobtainable, any suggestions as to how
the problem can be overcome? IE: using an o ring with copious amounts of black sealant, or even blanking it off?
All suggestions gratefully received. and hopefully not the death knell of this beautiful motor. :)

The top-hat seal?
Mostly they can be refitted multiple times? So if yours is not torn or otherwise damaged then clean it and refit.
Some of the members seem to have bought up the available stock several years ago. So if you really need a new one then post up a draft request in the test section. A sympathetic moderator might well move it into the wanted/for-sale section for you.

Hi Enceladus, Thanks for your reply. My circumstance is slightly unusual insofar that I am in western australia visiting grand children at this time, ( 8 hours in advance of uk time) and the omega is at an MOT garage near carlisle uk. I thought it a good idea to have the car collected by a local garage, MOT;t serviced, and returned. Garage stated car in excellent condition, and passed MOT, no problems at all. (so far so good) I was then informed when returning car EML light came on, and they returned car to garage to investigate. I'm now informed, they cannot obtain that elusive seal, and are trying to locate one. They explained it to be a rubber O ring with tabs etc down the sides. I have found this seal online, but always unavailable. If any members have one for sale, please get in touch, cash waiting. If I fail to obtain this seal, can any members advise if there is a way around this problem? As we all know, our omega's are not worth a fortune, but would be tragic to send this one down t'scrapyard :'( cheers

Just to mention, My 1999 2.5TD owned by me from nearly new, and serviced by me alone, still purrs along beautifully. :y :)

Just find an o-ring that fits (to prevent air being drawn into the plenum)
The crotch strap is merely 'nice to have' to minimise air movement between the two halves of the inlet plenum - I don't imagine that any 20+ year old Omega still has a complete seal or that it makes any difference to the smooth running of the engine.
Don't add any mastic, do everything you can to keep the breathers clear.....

In circa 2008 (on one of my cars!) I used the wrist-facing bead of a rubber glove in place of this seal, to make it airtight in an “emergency” when I broke the seal and didn’t have a replacement / needed to drive to work.
I then forgot about it and did about 10k miles with that piece of glove in there!
Not saying you should do that - but there will be a solution / compromise :y

You could try the USA where the engine was used in more applications and may still be available from there.

Much obliged for the info, because it seems there must be a way of keeping this lovely old limo on
the road, despite not being able to obtain a rubber ring! Any further helpful suggestions from members, gratefully
accepted. Just noted BazaJT post. Thanks Baza, I am in australia at present, and I am in the process of trying the GM

You can winge all you like about the cost, but they're no longer available from GM.
