Ten or twenty years from now when the madness has abated this car will once again inhabit it's natural territory in the £20000-£40,000 bracket.

That’s crazy money.  :o  Previous owner must be kicking himself. It’s obviously a showpiece, trailered to the MOT ramp, as it has the same mileage on as when he bought it in 2009.
The wonky front number plate would annoy the hell out of me though. Classic car prices are mental, and in no way justified, but that’s just my opinion.  :-\

The £596,250 price tag probably does not include the buyers auction fees. :)

I believe that Mk 4 Mondeos that have the torquey Transit engine are quite rare these days, so maybe I could in for a similar windfall?  :)

Agreed.....don't take a penny less than  £150,000. :)

Seconded.  :y  The Mondeo MK4 is easier on the eyes, especially as a sporty estate, more economical and almost as fast as that Sierra.  I bet the fool that bought that Sierra is kicking himself for being lured in to bidding so ridiculously high on that ornament.  ::)

Just watched a YouTube video regarding the sale of that actual Sierra. The ‘go to’ RS man reckons they’ll be going through auction for a million pounds in the future. Fair play to the seller if people are willing to pay that sort of money.  :)

If I had kept my manual 2.8i Granada Ghia X, 2.8i Sierra XR4x4 and Granada Cosworth saloon, I could have had a nice apartment somewhere warm ::)

I once owned a 1991 (J) Sierra Sapphire GLX.

It was quite unusual because it came with a twin cam 2 litre engine. It was quite quick. :y

Cheeky bugger!  ::)

I believe a variant of the 2.2 TDCi (Puma?) went in the Land Rover Defender as well, so it has a fine pedigree!  :D

Half leather sport seats, stiffer suspension, adaptive headlights, the weird thing where the left side fog light comes on as you turn left...

Anything that runs on derv is essentially a glorified cement mixer or canal barge. Pedigree my arse. :D ;)

Swmbos nephew is doing a bare shell / nut & bolt restoration of a Sapphire Cosworth.
Hugely impressive work. It will be a lot nicer than a new one when he is finished it.
Kind of thing I would love to do if I had the time / facilities and skill.

One car my missus always wishes we'd kept was a 1987 Renault 11 Turbo she really loved it but she collected points like they were going out of fashion! Traded it in for a Montego Countryman for her..😁

Prices for all classic and older cars is going up on average.

Sold my 1992 Sierra Ghia 4x4 Sapphire with 106000 miles on the clock in January this year. Got paid £10,700 for it. Paid £400 for it back in 2002 with 48000 miles on the clock.
