Title: Rear window blinds
Post by: Keith ABS on 28 February 2023, 19:27:01
  Hi all,
question on the above.
As I had an estate, I cant answer it for one of our club members
Do they require any guides/rails to raise?
Is the wiring usually there already?
He has an Irmsher version and its the only bit that the car does not have
Thanks in advance for any replies

The unit itself has its own folding rail system that aids the blind to rise or when lowered.

My 3.2 Elite did not have a blind fitted, but when I fitted one a there was the necessary wiring and plug already built in so I was able to just connect the blind to it.  Likewise with the dash panel.  There was a blank fitted to where the blind switch is normally fitted, but once removed there was the necessary wiring behind it for the blind switch.

Hope that will help. ;)

It works in a similar way to a roller blind attached to the front wipers on a Zafira by way of a slide ;)

In a saloon, its self contained, but does need a parcelshelf that has the cutouts for the blind.

Loom in place, so just need the blind and parcelshelf in teh correct colour, and the switch (3 types, PFL, MFL and FL) - the difference between PFL and MFL is the texture, PFL being the hard slightly rippled one, MFL being the awful soft touch coating.

Note, late models, usually 2003 ones, have a different connector in the boot, so you might need a bit of loom from the donor car to allow the connector to be changed

 Many thanks for the answers.
As far as I know, he has already obtained the parcel shelf and wanted to know about the wiring before pulling his car apart
