Title: Apple I.D.
Post by: Migv6 le Frog Fan on 08 March 2023, 12:54:35
Keep getting messages on my iphone that my cloud is full blah blah.
Was going to login and clear it out rather than upgrade to more storage as they keep asking me to do.
Problem is, I have no idea what my Apple ID is.I have managed to reset the password but still need the ID (username).
I think I created it when I  first got an ipod about 20 years ago and havent used it since.
When I got to their ID recovery page the first thing I was asked to do to proceed any further was sign in using my ID. ffs !
Any Apple users know how to go about this please ?  ::)

I've been a user for years, but I've never forgotten my ID fortunately. I believe it's a faff, sorry.
You could try Apple customer support on 0800 048 0408

BTW, you don't have to log in to reduce the amount of stuff that is stored in ICloud, just delete some photos, music or other stuff you don't need from your iPhone. It will also be deleted from iCloud. In fact, that is the correct way to do it.

As above, its not really something you can login to to clear down.
On your phone, go to settings, your name, icloud
here you will see what is using it, and you can disable bits to make it work if you dont want to delete stuff.
it can backup most your apps, photos, whole phone etc
Its considering what you want your phone to do to enable recovery should it be lost / stolen etc. as well as access to some bits from other devices

Thanks.  :y
Out of academic interest. How would I login, having forgot my ID, when apparently the first thing I need to do to recover my ID is sign in using my ID ?  ???

……………
probably your email address.

As above, Apple ID/iTunes is generally your email address.

If needs be, Apple Support are surprisingly helpful (though my current case with my AppleID is ongoing), but I think you need to know your AppleID in order to start the process, DOH!

If you have a Gmail account / address, download Google photos for your phone and use that to back up your iPhone pictures overnight then have a purge.
You get 15 gig to play with.
Works a treat on my phone
