Title: Potholes
Post by: ronnyd on 31 March 2023, 14:44:57
Just reading that Sunak is 'clamping down on potholes' according to BBC website. What's he gonna do, take them to court?  ::)

Government by gimmick and soundbite. We have had it for 30 years now. The current lot still havent got the hang of it though.
They are rank amateurs who just about everyone can see through.
As has been the case for a very long time now, the only thing they have going for them is the fact that the alternative is even worse.

Neighbour just lost two tyres in one on a main A road near me. I’m told the Council will now only reimburse if the pothole has been previously reported. I was repaid for one a few years ago, after sending pics of hole.

The councils insurance company may say they'll only pay if the pothole has been previously reported. But, as James has just demonstrated, a letter to the correct authority usually makes them see sense.

I believe that once the council have sprayed their yellow paint around it you can no longer sue them.  >:(  The fact that at night or filled with water so you can't see them isn't a overriding factor.  ::)
Stand to be corrected on this though.

So.....they'll only pay out if the pothole has been previously reported. Once it is reported, they'll spray it with yellow paint so they don't have to pay out.
Sounds a little bit one sided to me  ;D
