Title: Wickes
Post by: Mister Rog on 16 June 2023, 13:29:06

So Fraser Longden the COO of Wickes, the DIY chain of stores has said "shoppers with trans-critical views are 'bigots' who 'are not welcome in our stores anyway"

Is this a Gerald Ratner moment? Why comment at all? Just stfu and welcome any customers who want to spend money.
He was taking part in an online gay/trans event but of course his comments got picked up.

It's not trans critical views it's gender critical views which is what 99% of people hold.

Gender critical views simply mean you think a woman can't have a dick and a man can't have a fanny.

Five minutes ago it was OK to think this way.

I suppose it is Pride month.  Though I notice in Brumingham, Pride month (June) goes from May to July....

Do we have a straight month celebration?

That remark is anti gay.  Sorry, I meant anti LGBTQ+

So he says ‘ 'I don't think I'm ever going to change some of the bigots out there's minds, I'm never going to win that argument with them’.
Why would he want to change our minds, and what argument.  :-\  Is he saying that they (that’s not a pronoun by the way, it’s plural  ::) ) are allowed their opinions but we’re not allowed ours.
As Rog says, they should welcome anyone through their doors. In Wickes in Aylesbury there are normally just a handful of customers, they can’t survive like that.

Budweiser's latest business model is going so well, shoos can't give it away.

Wickes marketing team should have thought a little more carefully before signing off on becoming woke.

Wickes rarely have enough stuff in stock to complete a job anyway, IMHO, so I'd be more than happy to steer a wide berth. ;D

I worked directly with (against) this guy when Wickes were part of Travis Perkins. This sort of nonsense is bang on trend for him. I see the share price is down 3%.

Arf arf arf....

Apparently a Boycott Wickes campaign has started and these stickers have been appearing on the London Underground.

Those might be the only two though....  ;D
