Title: Hot windows
Post by: pauls on 16 June 2023, 17:14:06
Evening all.
I got a strange one. My lounge gets the sun from about 1pm onwards. My question is the double glazed window shot. The glass on the outside is cool to the touch but inside is red hot. Hard to keep your hand on it.

Any condensation inside the double glazed unit?  :-\

Possible that the glass is fitted backwards in the unit :-\

Or maybe upside down.

Eh ???

If it's solar reflective, if the window unit was assembled wrong, then the heat reflective surface might well be inside.

Does it have a very light grey hue to it, if so, it could be a solar reflective unit (look up Pilkington K glass), and incorrectly fitted as DG says

Presumably you are keeping those curtains/blinds shut currently to stop the sun heating the room, in which case it could be the solar energy is heating just that area.

Lastly, if you have blinds, are they reflecting sun back onto the window?

No grey tint from what I can tell.yes iam keeping the blinds closed. I checked the kitchen window as well, that all so sits in the sunlight. That was warm but not hot like the lounge.
