If nobody saw you, you’ve got away with it so no need to be embarrassed. Of course, you’ve told all of us now so you should be embarrassed.  ;D
In your defence, if the passenger door was shut it may have been hidden from view.  :y

That was exactly the reason why I also had to R TFM to pop the bonnet on my wife's Citroen .....  :-[

You are not a trained Peugeot knuckle dragging trained "engineer".  You are not authorised to open the bonnet.

No point being embarrassed about something that is really common. Really, really common.

Although if you want to conform with such people, you need to find the locking wheel nut key and put it in a safe place at home.

New space saver arrived yesterday, along with a 3tonne scissor jack and a wheel brace with different socket sizes. Very good value from The Wheel Shop in Manchester. DHL managed to not drop it, hide or lose it, another bonus. Locking wheel nut is safely stored in the wheel well with aforementioned items.

I have a 117 page audio manual for the mighty Signum, and even a 76 page one for the Corsa.

For the Mexican I get SFA except a note in the general handbook to use the app on the touchscreen for more information. I have and it is utter crap.

I'm still none the wiser. :-\ Nothing new there though. ;D

This sort of thing really boils my piss. We spend £20,000 plus and we don't even get a jack or spare wheel. >:(

Yes. All the polystyrene shite from the boot and the bottles of glue that end in the bin must be killing the planet in some way.
The space saver did weigh a fair bit, so she will probably lose about 0.1 mpg now. Oh well  ;D

My car is a 3 litre 2 door coupe and weighs 1700 KG WITHOUT a spare and a jack.

A 3 litre Capri from my youth was also a 2 door coupe, but came  WITH a jack and spare as standard. it tipped the scale at around 1000 KG.

WTF are cars so lardy these days. :-X

Because, generally, we want to walk away from them in a crash and like nice comforts, two things that never happened with a Crapi, they are also much bigger cars now with a lot more power and better stopping ability, it all adds weight.............just wait until there is 500kg+ of battery onboard  ::)

As for the bonnet opener, I recall some legislation (not my specific field but, I did ask the question when Defender was launched with a plastic protrusion from part of the door card moulding to cover the bonnet release) that it must be restricted access such that you cannot easilt pop the bonnet when moving, so they tend to be on A posts with door trim in the way so they can't be access with the door closed (you can thank many a rusting Jap car for that one!)

Yes, but an additional 700 KG.... :o :o :o

Also, the Essex V6 was made from either cast iron of fossilised dinosaur, neither of which are light in weight. ::) ;)

The usual explanation I got was I don't know what it is, so I keep it at home. After all, it takes up so much space in the car. ::)

The general public are too stupid to be allowed out on their own. The only reason it's tolerated is that it reduces their chances to breed more oppswits.

Ah, but your ML is a few years old now?

Neither of ours have anything to stop bonnet release being pulled, other than they fitted them passenger side.  You know, just where her handbag strap gets caught around it  ::)

I can trump all of your bonnet catch woes....  ::)

When I was a 'professional driver' in a former life I was allocated a spanking new MAN tractor unit for my day trip.  :y

I jumped in and thought How the hell do I drive this!  :o  There was no gear stick, auto box shift lever, flappy paddles or semi box shifter and after scratching  my head for a while, I had to admit defeat and go and ask the shunter how to drive it.  :-[

Turned out it had a auto box and the shift lever was an indicator type stalk on the steering column.  ::)

My story is about rental cars in the USA. Pitched up at a petrol (well gas) station somewhere in Hicksvill Texas running on fumes. Spent 10 minutes trying to find the petrol filler cap. Eventually had to ask the petrol station attendant - it was behind the number plate.

I offered to lend my R Class to a good mate of mine. I went to collect him from his house & brought back to mine. I went back inside & he jumped in the car .... I watched him from the house as he looked around the centre console area of the car very confused. I went back outside to ask him what the problem was .... he couldn't find the column shift either  ;D ;D

Similar story in Florida ..... I wasn't driving but the lad driving got out, looked on one side of the car, then the other, back to the first side & then stuck his head in the car .... I can't find the filler!  ??? I jumped out & found it behind the 'license plate' almost straight away cos I saw the hinges underneath it. If it was good enough for a MKIII Zephyr/Zodiac ....  ;D

On the Alabama Mumsybus, it's easier to face the back of the car and reach back under the dash to pull the lever with your right hand than to try and get it facing forwards. Can't see me physically managing to release it from the driver's seat :-\

If they changed the name from Vauxhall Grandland to Vauxhall Gangbang I reckon they may be able to tap into a new market.

Stronger tints on the windows is all that is needed. :)

As for the bonnet opener, I recall some legislation ........

Just looked at both of our Audi's and although the bonnet release is in view, you can't pull it with the door closed as it hits the door card. Well well, you learn something new everyday.  :y
Legislating for stupidity, like everything else.

If mine had such a system, as I have to park so close to a wall and can't open the passenger door, I wouldn't be able to open the bonnet.

These mongrels don't think things through....

You could reverse it in and exit via passenger door :D

But, lets say the reason I wanted to open the bonnet was because the battery was flat, or the engine was buggered....

I suppose I could knock the house down, as that is every bit as sensible as this stupidity!

It wasnt actually promised anything. The slogan read " We pay the EU £350 million per week".  "Lets fund the NHS instead".

However, the UK NHS budget at the time was £145billion per annum.
It is now £180 billion per annum, so do the math as the septics say.   ;)

...obviously, as a Remain supporter, I, along with most Remain supporters, knew it was utter bullshit, and as a country, we would never see any of that £350m, namely because we got the vast majoirty of it back for EU funded projects in the UK.  But your average Brexit supporter wasn't the brightest spark in the fire and believe every piece of crap that came out of the slimey little shits like Farage, JRM, and latterly Boris....    ....like £350m to the NHS, and no more illegals.

Illegals have been stopped dead in their tracks because we have 'taken back control'. ::) ::) ::) ::)

The thick of 1 million 'legals' each year means we become less English by the day. Many young whippersnappers are fine with this and want more of the same.

Anybody care to guess how England will look 50 years from now?.....everyone on here will be six feet under by then so I suppose the young will have their way in the end. ::)

The Tory party pretend they would like our English ethnicity to survive, but in reality low wage labour from abroad will always take priority.

Starmer and Labour don't even pretend. Completely open borders with no need to check who is arriving. Everyone welcome.

Thing is... The EU that we left in 2020 doesn't exist anymore.  :-X

If we were to formally rejoin there would have to be a referendum and a manifesto commitment at a general election to hold such a referendum. There's no way Labour or even the Limp Dumbs will put that in their manifestos for next year, so maybe the 2029 GE?  ???

So realistically if there was ever any appetite from the British people to join the EU, we probably couldn't until well into the 2030's, by the time you have a GE, and referendum and then the negotiations with the EU to join, and that's if they'd have us back!  ;D

I wonder what the EU will look like in 10-15 years time?  :-\

It's far more likely that Starmer will take us even further down the BRINO road than Sunak has and will make us into some kind of satellite state.  >:(

Living 7 or 8 to one room with just a mattress and a toothbrush helps keep the cost of living down.

The State will provide.... These people come to Britain and do minimum wage jobs and then claim the myriad of in work benefits that are available.  ::)

I don't blame them really, if I lived in some Middle Eastern shithole with a nagging bitch of a wife who dressed in blankets and a dozen ungrateful brats, I'd probably be on the first dinghy to Blighty as well to hole up in a nice 5 star hotel for a bit.  >:D

Seems I touched a remoaning nerve here!  ;D   Where to start....  ::)

The slogan on the bus was a suggestion of what we could do with the money saved by not having to pay EU subs. Nothing more, nothing less. That the remoaners seem to think that it was some kind of manifesto commitment says more about their intellect than those who voted to leave to be honest. BTW, the vast majority of leave voters and certainly all the ones I know, knew how they were going to vote as soon as David Cameron announce the referendum anyway and it's doubtful many were swayed by any of the Leave campaigns.  ;)

On the other side of the ledger we had George Osborne telling us about how the economy was going to go off a cliff if we even voted to leave, with 900,000 job losses, a house price crash, a stock market crash and mass bankruptcies. None of which came to pass of course. Later when the polls were favouring Leave he told us that he would have to have an emergency budget if we voted to leave, with huge tax hikes and pension and benefits cuts. Yes he actually said that, didn't do it, and I reckon that that scared potential leave voters into voting remain. Without Osborne's disgusting scare tactics I think it's possible the final result could have been closer to 60/40 for leave.  :-\

Finally, it's rough figures, but our gross contribution towards the end was about £18bn, less about £4bn for the rebate and about £4bn that came back to us in EU grants and funding, which we had no say in how it was spent BTW.  ::)  I really don't see how TB can say that " we got the vast majority of it back for EU funded projects in the UK. "  :-\  ::)  That's nonsense.  :-X  Maybe TB got out of the wrong side of bed this morning!  ;D

Since we left and the EU lost it's second biggest net contributor, a G7 member, a permanent member of the UN Security Council, Europe's biggest military power and nearly 70 million citizens, it massively increased it's budget and granted itself powers to raise sovereign debt in the international money markets. France's contribution to the EU's coffers is now about 26bn Euros (approx £22bn) a year and the EU has already racked up about 750bn Euros of debt. If we were still members or rejoined, it's likely that our net contribution would be quite a lot more than Frances and we'd have to underwrite a significant percentage of the EU's debts.

No thanks!   :)

The world is (not so slowly) falling apart. We, in this country, focus on stuff like inflation, cost of fuel and food, NHS, etc, but there is far more threatening stuff happening in the world out side Europe. We are, relatively, well off.

None of them to do with Brexit, which was the preceding discussion I was referring to, Rae. But, yes, the UK is going down the path of self destruction with its eyes wide open. That will take a while, outside events could destroy us much more quickly.
