SWMBO is approaching her 70th birthday in September,so had notification recently that she must renew her driving licence,we had read how bad the postal service is so decided to apply online applied on Tuesday & new licence arrived this morning in the post,so credit where credit is due..👍

I was informed that the registration document (log book) for my new car could take up to 6 weeks to arrive.
I was amazed to find it on the mat just 3 days after the car was registered.

My licence hits its ten year renewal date 5 days before my 70th birthday so I'll need a new photo to go with the application[and don't you need some form of doctors note to say you're fit to drive?]so I'll be doing mine the old fashioned way.

Thanks for that Stemo. I could have sworn I'd heard or read somewhere quite a few years ago that a doctors certificate was needed once you hit 70,obviously that's something I must have mis-remembered.

Baza. Time to give up driving. If your memory has gone can you be trusted to drive ! ;D

.
If you've got a current passport you won't require a photo ,a few health questions and your national insurance number & job done.

Old duffers such as Stemo and yourself can be required to take a retest if you end up pressing the pedal on the right rather than the pedal in the middle. :)

My licence hits its ten year renewal date ....
I've never had one .... mine is still a paper licence. It's caused a few confused moments .... ;D ;D
-
Hmmm. Every two years from age 70, I have to pass a practical test ( like an arcade driving game) and a medical test and pay about £40 for the priviledge. I cannot imagine not being able to drive but it will come.
-
Passport expired 2016 and I didn't bother renewing it as I've no intention of going abroad again,so definitely a new photo required.
Opti you must be correct about me being old and befuddled as for the life of me I can't figure out which of the two pedals fitted to the Omega is the middle one you refer to :D :D

Baza.....I refer to the days when cars had wind down windows, a clutch, and 4 forward gears. They were usually produced by two men from Birmingham. One was called Austin and the other Morris. :D

We haven't got the V5C for wifey's car yet but, apparently, you can't enquire until four weeks have passed.

Is she pleased with her new wheels?

She seems to be. She's not complaining about her back so much these past few weeks, so she must have a better driving position.

Women know nothing about cars.
Mrs Opti is still unsure if the M240i X-Drive is a BMW or an Audi.
She does know it is German.....or is that Mexican. >:D

That's nothing, mine asked is the MX5 a hybrid ? Of course not I replied the hybrid you liked was the Yaris , she is under the impression that every new car is a hybrid..😂
