Do-gooders have banned the shit needed to make proper repairs.  Then get shitty when the A43 here has to be resurfaced every year....

If I heard & understand correctly, the funds will be made available to repair 5,000 miles of road doesn't seem an awful lot of miles to me.

We were in Spain a couple of years back & found all the main roads superb , the roundabouts were well tended and the floral displays were  fantastic , flew back into Gatwick and the drive home looked like we were in a 3rd world country, a total disgrace.

What if we used former ministers as initial ballast for filling the holes? They're no use for anything else, and there's loads of them....

Wouldn't work they'd need a backbone to give minimum support something which none of them possess.

I see absolutely no reason to wait until they're former ministers.

No, they're far too wet as Rangie alluded to.

I was allowing my natural optimism to bubble to the surface.

Still nice now.

People on the dole can qualify for public service work and get two weeks paid work. Painting bridge railings, council buildings , clearing ditches. It actually works really well as no one would dare graffiti  as everyone knows everyone. Pride in ones home town.

Went to Valencia a few years ago and the graffiti,(street art) on the way in to Alfafar was stunning. Don't know it it's still there slowly fading away.
