Only 24C here today! So car has chosen best time of year to go faulty. It looks like electrical wierdness no doubt helped by potholes and the endLess sleeping policemen. It might be something mechanical as it was noisy too. Decided to switch it off and use good old fashioned open windows.
I can report that doesnt work at all well at speed.
Anyway it is either stealer or an air con specialist. Both in same town an hour away.
One think is for certain, it will have to be fixed. To filter the dreaded olive pollen and to cope with the ever increasing heat. We seem to be getting more heat coming from North Africa than ever before. Last year it was 38 on the 28th April.
Do you a swap some heat for some of your water ( this is third year of drought)!

No thanks, 14°C in January is just fine for us. :)

I'd take 24 all year round. 35+ can fuŁk right off. My OH lived in Denia near Alicante when she was a teenager and she basically didn't go out during the day May-Sept. Sounded miserable to me!

Car is booked into stealer tomorrow.
Question. Do north European market ( Germany) cars have a different air con configuration to Southern ( Spain). Eg different thermostat but obviously not that!
Just wondering as the car was from Germany and the air con might be having to work harder here in the desert.

Unlikely.
If it was a failed block heater from a Finnish or Canadian market car possibly, but Central Spain and the Pyrenees get just as cold as Germany in the winter and vice versa.

Suspected that might be the case. Good to know. Thanks.
I tried to use VW.com with VIN to see any recalls. That failed due to “ not a valid VIN” . Autodna disagree and confirm it is a Golf.
Lets see what tomorrow brings. 90 minute journey to dealer - no courtesy car available ( to rent) so we have packed an overnight bag………

I would have thought any AC specialist would have been a better option than a dealer.
Its either going to be a cracked pipe, failed condenser or a pump issue (either thermal fuse blown in the clutch or the pump has detonated.......which would mean a flush and new dryer also).
You don't tend to vary the hvac across territories on the central system as its a big and expensive to tool part and even in the UK, a sun soaked dark car can get pretty much as hot as it would do in an Arab state. Bigger cars do tend to add secondary systems for third row and rear seats but, they still use the primary AC system.

Simple problem .Faulty fan and control unit. A piece had broken off and got jammed.
534 euros to fix. Beggar it, booked in next week.

The heater blower? Shouldn't be too hard to swap...

If the heater blower is the same as my Yeti its simple to get out, mine got stuck (common fault) after I was laid up for a month and a bit. Yeti is just a Golf with a chunky body! Bit off WD40 fixed it as bearings dry out.
