We have just spent the weekend with basically no internet. It comes up for about 6mins then drops out for 4mins, then repeats. you can't log into anything or get anything done, and of course their support "doesn't do weekends". I have of course tried all the usuall things, eg different modems, microfilters etc. And trying to email their support is not easy, and the alternative is to spend 30mins plus on hold waiting for their support staff. What a bunch of ..........
This keeps happening in the UK, a small business (freedom 2 surf) starts up, offers excellent service and grows. The big, incompetant but somehow financially well off company (Tiscali), thinks "we'll have some of that", so buys out the small company with all sort of false promises, and starts to trade on the name and reputation, used to hide their own blunders. They expand sales without expanding their system, so service gets worse and worse. And british rules/laws don't give us any recourse. I bet there is a clause in the contract that says they don't have to provide any service at all, yet I got to keep paying.
Just like NTL, I got stung by those clowns as well.

I dont seem to have a prob with Tiscali.......runs pretty fast most of the time..........only thing ive noticed is every couple of days i have to reboot my router......as the 'net' goes into slow mode.....rebooting the router fixes the prob temp.......so not sure if its a router prob......or effectively relogging into tiscali is fixing the fault.
My neighbour has the same problem.......but he's with a different ISP.
Have thought of configuring the router to 'connect on demand' instead of 'always on' to see if it makes a difference :-/

I think my rant is more about how we rely on Internet access these days, but how bad the people are who provide it. They have sunk down to a pathetic service but we still pay for it.
