the nokia n95 seems to get a right bashing on here for one reason or another, but i'm here to say 'nay' 'tis a good phone!
i got mine primarily for satnav as the carin in the elite was a bit temperamental at the time (gps mouse needed replacing).
the n95 satnav is great and on a recent trip down to the south west to pick up my cav it was easily as good as the 'proper' satnav my mate had in his car, which by all accounts was a very good one.
got the carin working fine now so its good to have a choice between the two (free and not so free) but i was very impressed with the satnav on the phone anyway.
my two penneth worth! ;D
-
do you subscribe to it or do you have a working "free" version on your phone?
mine has its original version (black 8gb handset) and it'll plan routes and simulate journeys but doesnt actually let me use satnav to navigate me
-
in my humble opinion the n95 is a great phone, however i would not have another one due to unreliability, i had 4 within 2 weeks and in the end i got a different phone
1st phone = volume buttons came away from board
2nd phone = sound was distorted
3rd phone = bluetooth did not work
4th phone = kept switching itself off
as i said before they are great phones but i feel unfortunately they suffer from poor workmanship

sounds like they didnt like you, never had an ounce of trouble with mine

He he, i knew he couldn leave it, in TB s world anything that does not work properly is gay. And being completely honest he does have a point. First off every Nokia i ever had was full of bugs. Partly koz nokia turn out so many new models they cant possibly test them all fully, and partly because im on Orange and for some reason they insist on buggering about with the firmware again, further complicating the issue.
Having said that, the 8gb is the first one ive not replaced as faulty. 5 months and still the original.
It is without doubt the most feature packed model,
and yes Jamie it does have a fit once in a while. But its now all i use to post on here with via my home wifi. My windows xp lap top is far more Gay.
Ps Dont download tomtom and install it making
it much better than the nokia gps via torrents, that would be highly illegal and leave the you open to prosecution, dont do that, that would be bad, very bad. Its not n95 specific so wont work in landscape mode, but latest version can, im told, be made to work without a seperate gps module. My tip! ;)

Aye, I expect it to do what it says on the tin.
As to TomTom on the N95 (or any symbian phone), the cost of it (and yes I know p2p sites are full of it, but we don't do that, as OOFers are all honest), may as well get a standalone unit which easily outperforms the Nokia is usability (TT and most other PDA based satnavs were always designed for touchscreen, and bodged back for those gay phones that haven't got touchscreen), stability, clarity (nokia has a poxy, pointless screen), and speed.

i have the n95 8gb and although i like it -it does seem to have a lot of bugs, freezing a lot and i now have lost the tilt facility????
it is also so slow, but being like a mini computor i should expect that. ;)

Ar so thats where your going wrong!
Personally, i hate touch screens, symbian based tomtom has numbered menu options linked to short cuts on the number keys, ie update traffic info is 3.3. So no need to smear your mits all over the very nice and perfectly ample screen. Only old and blind who cant cope with new tech need pda with a query key board. I mean how does it look standing there with a little stylus tapping away on a make beleive clip board? Now thats Gay with penis envy to boot. ;)
Dont agree with the stand alone tt unit at all. Have it all in one unit. Rather than have i nice line of devices along your dash. More gayness if you ask me.

software update should fix it, i regularly check mine!
the only problem i have with mine is that the video camera freezes when recording for a split second every few seconds, which was annoying at southport air show when i tried to get footage of the vulcan

not that one!! ;D

What route did the Vulcan take - still don't know if I saw it or not
-
no idea!! it was just there, then it flew away and i dont remember whether north or south!!
i have a couple of pics but cant be bothered uploading yet

Not an N95 but i do have a sony/erricsson K800 which as a phone is ok but the navi button is tricky and texting not easy.
Very tempted next phone upgrade time to go for a nice simple "traditional" Nokia with an easy to follow menu, no camera games Internet or other such junk that i never use.
Just want a simple phone for calls and text.
Any recomendations?
