Second key for the Omega. Is rarely used. Last time probably two or three years ago.
Put a new battery in it today. Put key in ignition, turned to position one (also tried with ignition on) pressed lock unlock several times, nothing doing.
Could be battery connections inside key, but as it doesnt get used its hard to see how its got damaged.
Any other possibilities I can check ?
-
Is it a 'just purchased new' or 'sat in a drawer unused for two years' new? :-\
-
Came with the car seven years ago and has been on swmbos keyring, largely unused since then.
Tested voltage in the new battery and it showed just over 3v.
-
Pop apart and check if batt connections are broken (where metal bit attaches to PCB).
Photo if not sure.

Will do. Thanks. :y

You've never lived till you've tried it with the door open.

Nah !
All the people in the local park rarely have pets with them ;)
they all seem very loving and affectionate :)
though I don't know WHY they don't change the batteries in their car keys while it's light :-\
always seems to be late at night ???
-
Daytime is certainly much better, more people to potentially catch you jiggling your fobs... >:D
-
Anyway....................Im back in work friday night where I can insoect it under an illuminated magnifier, so shall take a look at it then.

Is that like throwing them in a bowl with other people's keys?

Had a look at the internals under the microscope at work last night. Couldnt see anything obviously amiss.
Just been out to try the resync again but no luck.
I have discovered though, that it will unlock the boot ok, but does nothing with the doors. ???

so it will be the open/close buttons then
If the rubber case splits then "finger cheese " can get in the micro switches/buttons
washing with isopropyl alcohol (fob battery removed) can sometimes revive the switches
-
Had an Isopropyl wash last night. The case is in pretty good condition.
Anyone know a good source of switches please ?
Can hopefully get them changed at work, although my go to man has recently retired.
Both switches packed in at the same time though ? ???

RS, CPC-Farnell etc.

Or in the good old days, the OOF Shop ;D
