Title: Private Dentist
Post by: Sir Tigger KC on 08 July 2024, 15:27:38
I've just made an appointment for a checkup with a private dentist.  £35. Which seems pretty reasonable.  ???

They charge £65 for the hygenist, which I'm expecting them to recommend, as I haven't had that done for years.  ::)

It gets expensive when they tell me my teeth are Donald Ducked and all need replacing with implants!  :D

You have your own teeth at your age....bravo. ;D

My dentist is also private, and not cheap, but NHS dentists are as rare as rocking horse droppings. :-\

I always opt out of this.

Up to the end of COVID lockdowns I hadn't been to the dentist for close to 10yrs, then a cap I'd had since a teenager decided to fall out. Had that fixed and got the usual recommendation for the hygienist, so I decided to do a little test.

While I was there we struck up the usual conversation about dental care and I casually dropped in that I had been in for regular sessions with the dentist/hygienist before I moved house. Her response was "well yes of course I can see that, your dental health looks excellent, we're really just doing maintenance at this stage".

From this I've concluded the whole thing is a con that makes fu£k all difference in the long run. So now I save the £60...  ;D

Teeth can be easily 'descaled' with a little rotating jobbie from Temu or similar for about £7

Comes with plenty of attachments to reach every crack and crevice.......oooohhh matron. ;)

Apparently my private dentist can't do simple stuff like tooth extractions, and I will have to go to a tooth specialist in Leicester and take £3200 with me.

Bob Mortimer does his own dentistry.

Pair of pliers and a push , wiggle and it is out. A wad of clean cotton wool to stem the blood flow and Bob is your uncle

Well went in for my examination today which was done extremely thoroughly by a very nice Romanian lady, who also XRayed my teeth and did the scale and polish as well.  :y

I came out £89 lighter, with what feels like a mouth full of gravestones.  ::)

Not too bad I suppose though. £34 for the examination, £12 per XRay x 2, & £65 for the scale and polish. So £124 all in.  :)

Illegal immigrants get it for free though..............  :-X

The Dental Assistant was quite cute as well and while they were doing the scale & polish, I thought to myself that there are men out there that pay a lot of money to be tortured by a couple of good looking girls!  >:D

No happy ending for me though...  ::)  ;D

How could she be here illegally?

And, let's face it, who in their right mind would want to come and live here? It's a shit hole, even compared to Romania.

She said it's 40 degrees in Bucharest right now, and she can't decide which is better, stay in all day because of the heat, or stay in all day because of the rain.  ;D

Yeah, my lad is there, heat is unbearable. They've took themselves off to the Carpathian Mountains and were swimming (floating) in salt water lakes today. Much cooler up there.

We had two days in Cordoba last week. 42C. Absolutely horrid. Once it gets above body heat it is torment.

37 today and we spent the day at some thermal springs and huge tiled pool with lots of shade. Roast chicken for lunch.wouldnt swap it for rain. Some Spanish friends have just spent five days in London and could not wait to get back to “ heaven” ! They might change their tune when it hits 44 or more again.

Went to one of those in Germany a few weeks ago. Various packages available, so we went for the full works. Big mistake. That got us into the "swimwear verboten" section. :o

Bugger that!

I've worked a few places that got that hot (India for one) and just spent my time moving between air conditioned spaces as quickly as fu£king possible.

Low to mid 30s is my limit. That said it would be nice to see some sun. It's the lad's end of term celebration at school tomorrow and the dozy fu£kers have set it up as an outdoor event.

Those that can('t organise), teach.  ::)
