;D
I came across that article the other day. :y Apparently Octopus were challenged by some woman who required proof that her certification had expired. They couldn’t prove it and agreed to leave her alone. ;D
I did receive another call the other day and when I started to speak the woman said ‘Oh, I’m very sorry, I’ve just noticed that you’re flagged for no smart meter calls’. She bid me a nice day and hung up, so it’s looking promising. ;D ;D

I just get the texts, they've stopped speaking to me. According to my missus, I'm a cantankerous, condescending old bastid, maybe that's why ;D

Surely not... ;D ;D ;D

I agreed a couple of times to change my old meter for a smart meter, but cancelled both appointments the day before as I'd just tested positive for Covid. :)
They don't bother me anymore. :y ;D

We had a smart meter fitted on the insistance of EON
Although we kept telling them they would get no signal, they chose to ingore it
When fitted, they complained that there was no signal
We live almost at the top of a hill but in a small dip just before the top
All but O2 and Vodafone signals miss us

I’m with EON and they told me that as there’s no signal in my meter cupboard, they can move the meter, but at my expense. ;D So there you go, that’s never going to happen is it. ;D

That's virtually a compliment in my book Steve. ;D

They've been texting and leaving me voicemails to get a daftmeter installed for the last 5 years, still not taking them up on their offer, don't want to take any part of keir stalin's 15 minute shitty control grid!

Had the call....I said I wanted a conventenial meter. Loads of silence then 'Are you sure' .....after a few holding the line jobs, it then seems my meter is certified until 2032.....con artists ::)

Job done, none of us on here will be around by then ;D

The only down side is you will lose the 'economy 7' tariff next year as they are planning to turn off the Radio Teleswitch signal that switches the rates on the meter.
That said they have been threatening this for a while and it keeps being put off......

They've scared Mum with this.... ....so she agreed. Only her feed is 3 phase, and it turns out they can't fit (standard) smart meters to 3 phase supplies ;D

It will likely happen at some point.
The signal comes from a rather old Radio 4 LW transmitter around the Droitwich area, allegedly its on its last transmit valves with no replacements available, once they go pop then it goes off.
If you are not reliant on cheap overnight electricity then its probably not an issue

Just another kick in the teeth for those living in rural areas who use electric night storage heaters. :-\
I guess they can offer an Economy 7 style cheap night time rate via smart meters though? ::)

Yes, although it tends to be more of an 'Economy 5 and a half'.
Quite how you then auto switch your heaters on I don't know

Yes, although it tends to be more of an 'Economy When The Wind Is Blowing'.

This is probably more likely I think. ::)

Just checked, if connected up correctly (the meter has two switched outputs) AND remotely configured correctly, the correct type of smart meter has a switched output to support storage heater switching.........so in the hands of the installation tech and the remote config team
